Gunslingers Docudrama - AHC
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:07:40 AM »
Hey all,

A new "Docudrama" is coming out in late Jully on AHC "American Heroes Channel". Link below.

If anyone watched the World Wars on the History Channel, it would appear this is in the same vein.

I am just pleased that this part of American history is still alive and talked about.

Just wanted to pass the word on to like minded people in case you missed any previews or promotions on the show.

Thank you for posting this.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Not sure about the historical accuracy.  For starters, I saw a trailer for the Billy The Kid episode. In the famous scene where he shoots the sheriff from the stop of the stairs with his own shotgun, he calls the sheriff " Frank". Wasn't his name Bob?

While they seem to do a good job of showing more than Colt SAAs in use, even showing Schofields, I was disappointed to see the holsters were all over the place.

Somebody didn't take to much time to try to get the weapons, and leather gear, and clothing correct. I don't think they are using the same people and props as in the Wild West series, at least they were close. Some of the people acting in the series look as clean as if they came off 5th Ave. not the streets of Deadwood. Don't know why hollywood can't make good westerns anymore. If they could put the money they put in the comedy like the new Lone Ranger, I bet they could take us back like old west was really like. Just my thoughts.
