Die interchangabilty for sharps calibers?
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:10:03 AM »
I'm just wondering if you can use 45-70 dies for other calibers up to 45-120, sorta like you can 44 magnum, special, colt. Thanks

Hi Galloway, You can in a pinch if you don't have the correct ones, case tapers are different so be careful, I do 44-100 and 45-90 with 45-70 dies,  BUT, I can't full length size if I need to, so far I have'nt needed to. Myself, I kinda use them for neck sizing, so to speak. The correct dies are always the best, but, po people got po ways.

You can use Lyman and Hornady 45-70 dies for the 45-90, but the longer cases like the 2.6,2 7/8 can share the same dies, but the 3.25 needs its own set.
