I dont see a Uberti Gunfighter in their catalog or website. You might be talking anout the millenium which is a basic SAA clone with brass grip frame and matte black finish neither of which are authentic however I hear they function and shoot just fine. As far as the quality of Uberti they are pretty much the standard and make about 90% of all replicas.

Since I own both USFAs and Cimarron (Uberti) guns, I can say that Ubertis are extremely good, but USFAs are simply fanastic by comparison.  The Rodeo is a couple of hundred dollars more, but at the entry level, well worth it.

Yes, that is Uberti's version of the USFA Rodeo. Ubertis are very fine guns (own a few myself) and they tune out very nicely. Once they are tuned, they will give you excellant service. But I have to say that I do prefer the USFAs. They just have the Colt-type feel to them.
Either way you go, get a quote from Marshal Halloway. He offers some very good prices.

RR:

I agree and if there is any way to spend the extra $ on the USFA I would do it.  If the Uberti is what is dictated by the budget, it will still be a fine and shootable gun with a bit of fine tuning.  Either one looks and feels better than a Ruger by comparison.

I've got the Uberti 1873 Cattleman and I love it. I've only put about 500 rounds through it but so far, it's worked perfectly. I'm about to pick up another identical gun for my CAS matches. The texture of the Gunfighter handle is pretty cool also. Feels like a great grip.

I am confused, are they offering more than one type of finish to the matte blue?

I think the Cimarron guns are a bit better for not a whole lot of money more not to mention no useless hammer safety.  However, if shillings are tight, the gunfighter looks like the best deal with a good steel frame.

The hammer saftey is not really a problem as there are cylinder pins that are copies of the 1873 Colt. With better springs, the cylinder pin, and my checkered grips. I believe my Cattleman is a great pistol.

I recalled reading this post several months ago.  I purchased the Uberti with the brass grip frame.

Anyway, I was watching a Clint Eastwood movie a couple days ago. I think it was "A fistful of dollars" that was released in 1967 in the US.  (It was released in Italy in 1964 as "Magnifico straniero,II" or "Per un pugno di dollari".

In a scene where they were shooting out the telegraph insulators, the guy had a case hardened brass framed single action revolver.  Looked just like my Uberti.  I even used my backup and freeze frame on the Sat. system to be sure of what I saw.

So while not authentic to the original colt, someone made one with a brass frame at least 45 years ago.
