Hi,
I bought a well used new model 3 in .44 Russian with repro grips.
The grips look very nice, in fact the stand out like a sore thumb.
Any suggestiond on "aging" them?, so they fit the revolver's conidition.
Thanks for your help.

I've heard tell of a product called "Old Bonz" (old bones)  A friend of mine bought some new faux-ivory grips - all squeaky-clean white, etc. and a couple weeks later, I saw them again, and the grips looked ancient - and beautiful. Don't know where he got "Old Bonz" tho.

Well I found half creek Charlie, but he was aging fake ivory. These grips are black hard rubber.

I had pretty good luck aging some black grips with light sanding to knock off the sharp edges and show "wear" in all the proper places, and then rubbing them all over with handfuls of table salt until they looked right.

NOTE: GET ALL OF THE SALT OFF BEFORE YOU PUT THEM BACK ON THE GUNS!

Forty Rod,

I tried your method and it worked real well. They look more like they belong to the pistol.
thanks again,

Make sure you got ALL of the salt off.  That stuff is great on food and ice, but it tears hell out of a gun.

Tubac it's easy if you have the pictures on your computer, just click reply, then click additional options, go down and over to Browse, click it and go to where your pictures are  and click on the one you want to post.  just make sure your picture is less than 100kb

try it, you'll like it.

You done good, son.  It looks like they came with the gun and followed it "through the wars".

New grips just look outta place on a 126 year old pistol. ;-)

Only if the pistol looks that old.

My DA 44 looks new and so to the grips.
But they may be replaced by some 'ivory' ones.

Nice pistol though.  A New Model 3 is pretty high on my want list.  But I'm affaid that one as nice as the DA will cost more than my first 2 cars combined. Or maybe as much as my first new car.
