DD's ROA Bullet Phials
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:47:06 PM »
Loading my ROA at our monthly shoot using the off gun loading tool purchased from DD when I realised I did not have my nipple wrench/screwdriver to unlock the loading lever to release the cylinder. Took out the ROA/DD Big Lube Bullets from the phials supplied by DD and guess what, the tab on the lid of the phial unlocks the loading lever assembly perfectly, ye-ha.

Thanks for sharing that Ned.  It's the Cowboy way.  I also use the tab to turn the locking bolt on my ROAs.  Always available, strong enuf and never scratches the gun.

Actually, if you use a loading stand you don't need to use the lock screw.  The lever will keep the cylinder in and when you get ready to reload just drop the lever, pull it forward and remove the cylinder.  I haven't used the lock in over two years.  You only need to use it if you are going to load with the cylinder in the gun.  If its not engaged, the loading lever will pop out when you try to seat a ball.

ALTHOUGH if you use the gun without the loading lever and forget to turn the lock. GUESS WHAT??

The clyinder will fall out on the ground when you are drawing the gun for a stage.

NOW that aint funny.LOL

So, is dropping a loaded and capped cylinder considered the same as dropping a loaded gun??  Cud be a match DQ?
