This Russian replica is chambered in .45 Colt instead of .44 Russian, but it was still fun to shoot.

Mike,

Well done! I think that's your best video to date.  I was especially interested in your comment that you had no binding after 50 rounds of black powder ammo.  I've been hesitant to buy one of the S&W breaktop reproductions because of all the scare stories about their intolerance of black powder.  I have looked at a new one and one of the older Uberti's, however, and it looks like the newer ones have a little more of a gas ring than the early ones.

Guess I'll have to put one (or two) of these on my "guns to buy in the future" list - near the top.

BDM,      Is .45 the only caliber they are available in?

I think the nickel-plated version is only in .45. The Blued model is available in .44 Rus, or .45 Colt

I had a pair of New Model 3's blued...great guns, was hard to get used to sights but once you do they are very accurate!

I had little issue shooting APP in mine.

Alas I sold them for other projects....

Great video Mike, I have a pair of Uberti Schofields that I use with C45S APP loads and really like them.  I would definitely recommend that you steal this gun if it will negotiate fifty rounds of real black powder and keep on ticking, that seems to be somewhat unique for these guns.  I have found that I am very good with these as I can draw and fire a round in under three seconds and frequently even hit a large and close target!  Seriously, you did have some nice groups even if they were not centered, making this a great gun for use in hostage scenarios.  Do not regret it later, steal that gun Mike!

Nice video, Mike!  I, too have heard of issues concerning BP use in these (and 1875 Remingtons) so this one still going strong after 50 rounds is excellent!  Maybe Uberti has listened to shooters and done a few sneaky mods to make their new Model 3 Rs more dependable with BP!

I have long admired the S&W design and I'd love to add a Schofield (not the Russian) to my collection, 'tho I DO like the grip shape of the Russkie.  I'd be one who would have the backstrap-"hump" filed down or something.

Thanks again for sharing!
