Go to your favorite search engine - type in 'western art' and whatever version of the name you can think of.

The style isn't 'old' - probably from the late 1970's - 1980's when they were doing all that 'ethereal' stuff that flooded the market.

Good Luck.

From Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary:

Main Entry: ethe·re·al
Pronunciation: \i-ˈthir-ē-əl\
Function: adjective

1 a: of or relating to the regions beyond the earth
   b: celestial, heavenly
   c: unworldly, spiritual

2 a: lacking material substance : immaterial, intangible
b: marked by unusual delicacy or refinement
c: suggesting the heavens or heaven

The 'example' would be the Native American hovering in ghostly form.

The best examples I can think of are the myriad pictures that contain wolves in various forms - in the rock formations, as a "floating shadow" like this one, blending in with the trees in a forest setting, reflected in a pair of eyes, repopped on countless T-shirts, interestingly almost exclusively black t-shirts etc, etc, etc.  Not that wolves aren't amazing animals, it just got to be a bit much.  I haven't seen AS much recently - I think the wolves got bored and refused to continue to pose...
