I am about to purchase a Taylor & Company (Chiappa) Spencer...I opted for a 56-50 after reading this forum but have two questions I cannot seem to find an answer to from this decade...If someone has the same carbine can you tell me what the bore size is as I cannot find any documentation from Taylor advising...My second question, (hopefully my last) is there a place/vendor in which to purchase bullets from which I would assume is 350 grain RNFP ?? I dont have the equipment to mold my own...If I have to, then Ill purchase the 45LC, but its a Cimmaron...(sp)...Thanks in advance...

Last time I checked the groove diameter on a Spencer 56-50 reproduction by Armi Sport is . 512/.515 groove diameters will vary with 56-50 models.
I'm sure other members of SSS will indicate more information.

My bore slugs at .511. I haven't bought bullets for it, but if you decide to start casting your own, I have a mold recommendation. Also, I strongly advise against Lyman reloading dies and suggest RCBS as giving more satisfactory results.
These topics have been discussed at length in these pages and there may be more complete answers there. At any rate, my reproduction Spencer is one of my favorite guns to shoot. It certainly has its quirks, but I you'll have fun with it!

You are going to have trouble buying 56-50 ammo pre-loaded, my advice is load your own I do and have had no problems, if you wish I can give you more info on this.

Wasn't look for pre-loaded only the lead and not wanting to cast my own...I bought some from Buffalo Arms as suggested above and await their arrival !!!

Darth,
I have FREE Canon ink cartridges for you if you have a Canon MX850 printer. The ink is Canon PGBK 5 Cartridges.
Or for anyone else who has that particular printer. My MX 850 Ink Jet printer died, and I had extra cartridges that are brand new.
BTW, my new Canon TS9520 Ink Jet Printer is terrific.
