My calendar still says August 2006
I have always heard they are behind the times down there. ;D

Flurries started 'bout noon. Very wet so it is slush on the roads.
Eating some lunch and watching Rawhide.

Rain is supposed to change to snow around 5 here.
Headed to work in a bit.
-
Slow, nope just me... ;D
Raining here- tornado warnings up for southern counties into Fl panhandle and SW Georgia.

76 degrees here in Sun City, Florida. My bride and I have been sleeping on the inflatable mattress I use for camping. It's a queen size 22" high. Actually it is quite comfortable. Our furniture arrives next week from Wisconsin
-
Wade from tech support called tonight, seems we have wormholes in our registar program and we're being defrauded from off site. ::)
Hung up before he got to the part about me activating a bunch of gift cards to help track it and giving them to someone when they show up. ;D
Alerted the distric manager so she could start making calls.
Smitty from tech support called about an hour later and now the cell towers in the area were down and now we we're being scammed that way.
Hung up again and called Mary. Two Omaha stores had dummies working and got scammed.

I got an email around Thanksgiving , claimed my work.com was hacked and "they" had control .... was going charge me small FEE to clear it, however after reviewing my browser, "they" proceeded to call me "perverted" claimed "they" had "photo images " from my computer's built in camera :o
I had 48 hours to pay $815 VIA Bitcoin, to free my computer or "they" would post the photo's !!!!
Total SCAM, "dirt bag, scum bucket, bottom feeding SOB's" , and that the nice's thing I have for them.....
I have nothing to hide , less CAS City is a perversion !
-
I received a voice mail yesterday morning saying that a lien was being filed against my Social Security. I was told to call them back immediately. The call was from a foreign sounding woman in Georgetown, Texas.
Total SCAM, "dirt bag, scum bucket, bottom feeding SOB's" , and that the nice's thing I have for them.....
-
Scammers are busy for the holidays.
We have had our share of them here also.
Coffee is up for all
-
I believe that Scamming is as serious a crime as horse theft and rustling cattle in the Old West. The penalty should be he same.
-
PS.... there is no one Named, Larry in Pakistan that is not in fatigues. I hope this is a helpful hint.
-
Morning y'all.
Thanks fer the coffee.
Scammers are bottom feeders. >:(
4" of wet sn*w so far.
'Tis 31 and flurries. "Blustery. Light snow. Additional snow accumulation around 2 inches. Nearly steady temperature in the lower 30s. Northeast wind 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent."

Evening all.
Stayed below freezing today. Had some white stuff, but it's gone now. I don't understand fully how the two occurred simultaneously, but it did.
Nothing exciting to report here.

Had to change out the transmission pan on my 97 Dakota, was rusted through and starting to leak, New pan with gasket & Filter cost me $25.00. I'm going to run the truck this winter so my car doesn't get eaten up with the liquid calcium they use on the roads now. Y'all have a good one.
-
Too bad it's rusted. ;D

Coffee is ready
-
70 today for a high but 20s by midweek for a low. Need to put the wall between us and Canadia to keep that cold where it belongs. Lemme get another cup. Stay safe all.
-
Morning all.
25 degrees with white stuff falling from the sky. Looks like it might even stick around for a while, too.
Got my psychology final out of the way. Even if I totally bombed it, I still would pass the class with an A, but I think I did pretty well on it. Next is history class, followed by my FAA Private Pilot Written. So much fun.

I am not ready to drive yet. So rode with wife to pick up plate renewals for her truck and her sons car. Then to feed store. I am unable to lift and the doctor has directed me not too. So mostly watched her unload feed nd a few bales of hay. I refilled all the water tanks and tubs.
Now time for 2nd cup.
50ish today mostly sunny
-
Chili today hot tamale ;D
Coconut cream pie too
-
Evening all.
Stopped snowing, finally. Nothing stayed around for very long.
Got that FAA test out of the way. Passed it with room to spare. History class went pretty well, too. Got a much better grade on a paper than I thought I should have, but I'm not one to complain about these things.
Spent some time with my girlfriend before dinner, played a game of pool and talked for a while just to get away from studying. Now she's off studying for a final tomorrow, while I'm sitting in my room listening to music.

Today's high was 31, and windy the whole time. Currently 20, wind chill to 4.
I'm boarding an airplane tomorrow, heading home for Christmas. Actually, I'm flying to Havre, MT and boarding a train to get home. My primary reason for taking the train is because I want to. That's pretty much it.

Now I have a song stuck in my head. ;D
https://youtu.be/_x2m6i4KFqg
Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones you better watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
This old engine makes it on time
Leaves Central Station 'bout a quarter to nine
Hits River Junction at seventeen two
At a quarter to ten you know it's travelin' again
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
Trouble ahead, Lady in red
Take my advice you'd be better off dead
Switchman's sleeping, train hundred and two is
On the wrong track and headed for you
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better watch your speed
Trouble ahead trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
Drive your train, whoo
Trouble with you is the trouble with me
Got two good eyes but you still don't see
Come round the bend, you know it's the end
The fireman screams and the engine just gleams
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, you know, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind

Sucks...... We have train crossing that malfunctions almost like clock work, I think it delinquent ass hat kids....
It backs up traffic regularly, most everyone is so accustom to it they drive around the arms .... cops would have a field day, except I seen them drive around it too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEL!!

Good afternoon all.
Sitting here in the Havre train station waiting for the westbound Empire Builder. Supposed to get into the station at 2:40, but checkout at the hotel was 11, so I've been sitting here for a while already. Got another while to go.
I recently discovered the latest trend in coffee consumption while perusing the internet. It's called "Keto" or "Bullet Proof" coffee. I'll let y'all look it up at your own discretion, but I saw this monstrousity at breakfast this morning and came close to losing my appetite.

Keto coffee ain't new or discovered by Yuppies.
Butter in coffee or tea is common in Eastern Europe. Butter keeps better than cream if you don't have refrigeration. Put it in a crock in the cellar. Good way for those off grid people if the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow and you got no legtrivity. Probably can read all about it on those living off the grid boards. How that works is beyond me. Had a lady join our cast iron cooking group the other day going on about living off the grid. Several of us pointed out the net is part of the grid. She told us off and left the group. Rough group but a lot of good knowledge in it if you ain't a whiny snowflake.

I've put a little in when I didn't have milk/cream, but 4-8 tbsp of butter in a cup of coffee? That's gross.
Currently sitting in Portland Oregon. My train leaves at 2:25 local, currently 12:20. I've got a while to wait.

here is the news as offered...
A Model 1917 Eddystone came home with me today .... I'll do some photos tomorrow ( weather drizzly & cloudy all day )
Barrel date indicates 1-18 , SS# match to date ....original blue 80% or better ....all parts E stamped , Ordinance bomb present on Receiver & bolt & barrel.
Extractor spring is not broken , Bore is bright with strong rifling, Head Space is a go, ...Sights are E marked.
The wood had been sanded but not abused.... I think the upper hand guard is a replacement ( its a shade darker ) but has a E .
So far it all Eddystone, no armory mismatched parts.
Probably slug it tomorrow , before reassembly.... EDIT: slugged @ .308 - found an R on the Stock after Cosmolene or RENAISSANCE WAX or whatever the gook was....
Planets aligned and the trade was made ;D ....my FFl had a pretty nice Remington Bayonet with 6-1-1918 date I grabbed for $20
1 HAPPY CAMPER

M-2, I don't know what the P-17 set you back, but any US bayonet in good shape for $20 will make a happy camper.
MY 1903 has a better trigger than my P-17, but I still shoot better with the 1917, at leastr with jacketed loads. Have not had success with my cast GAF loads.

The above post requires photos.

Mornin Y'all, Just had to replace the battery on my Daughters cay, was 5 years old, which is pretty good for this area. $100.00 plus tax and a $5.00 core charge to make sure I returned with the dead battery, I fooled them because I had it with me, Not worth the drive there and back for $5.00. I did some research and found out that Walmart had the best price, Auto Zone and Advance Auto wanted $150.00 & $160.00 for there store brand battery, which is made by the same company that makes Walmarts.

I will probably start looking to Wally World for batteries next. For a long time, O'Reillys was where I went, they were competitive in price, but no more at around 150-170, and recently I found they had dropped all the long 4, 5 or 6 year warrantees, only 2 year now. Warranty service was the main reason I was using them.
-
I think all of the battery companys have dropped the lenght of warrenty .
Any of ya’ll ate frome Panda Express? On line menu does not help.

Used to use Die hard Sears in the 90's quit when the sold me a "new" battery which was not !

first time over priced , small portioned and barely palatable ....
they will never see me twice

I'm not, but I know some about it.... There many blends & flavors.... most develop a fondness for mixes over packaged brands.
There mild, harsh, mellow, sweet, aromatic , fine & courser cuts , if you think it easier than a stogie ....you gonna get an education :)
You may want try a Smoke Shop.... try Apple , Wine Berry or Cherry for the mild side.....

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are hot.
Going to Bangor, WI and maybe La Crosse WI, to-day.
I don't smoke, but at one college I went to a prof. in the computer dept. smoked a pipe. His tobacco smelled much better than cigars and cigarettes. I suspect it was apple. This was before the indoor smoking bans.

Depends on what type of cigars you like. I like medium to Maduro cigars (Foundation Charter Oaks Maduro is my favorite. The Petit is just about a 70 minute smoke for me, but I digress). My favorite pipe tobacco right now is a mix I made from three other blends. I take two blends from the tobacco store Smoker Friendly, their Sweet and Natural and Cherry flavor. The third is old fashioned Velvet pipe tobacco(same stuff my grandpa smoked). I mix those in equal parts and smoke it through my cob. I have some in a jar "cellaring" right now.
Sunny and 55 today in California. We're about to head out and cut a tree for Christmas. Taking the dog, since she's pretty good at finding sticks.

Coffee's on , and some of the Wife's seasonal bake goods, leftovers after "SHE" all her cookie plate rounds....
43 ° this morning, clear a bell ....
Going to have Lunch with Coffinmaker ( down on his annual Mouse venture )
Had comedy of errors ...I ordered 30/06 dies for loading my 1917 Enfield from Amazon.com supposed to arrive at my home 20 on Friday the 21st.
Got a email it was delivered, left in the MAIL ROOM ??? ( strange :-\ should be my home mailbox ) but I also got an email , there was package for me at work ( I had left for the day... Ok so I check my home MAIL BOX ..nothing )
I check tracking to see if they send it to my work....NO it was sent to my home , OK then its not here...
So I called AMAZON for clarification.... Customer Service they will check with carrier while I wait ... seem s it was delivered
to different address different street... but add that address is 23 FEET away ...REALLY ???? I live on acreage my own mailbox is 400 feet away !!! So they offer apologies and will send a replacement... that's acceptable I tell them...
I have no Idea what package is waiting at work.... and since I've got Holiday until Wed. I won't know...
Now the comedy part....seems the mail came early at home this day, normally 4pm of later... Friday it came a 1PM
"SHE" that shall be obeyed , intercepted it...had it with her ! on her drive around delivering her cookies , ( thats why the Mail BOX was empty @ 4:30 when I got home ::)
"SHE" has my 30/06 dies package ... So I call Amazon :-[ and tell them to cancel ...to late they say , replacement have been sent to be delivered TODAY , special carrier.... I have a free shipping account .
SO I say, I'll return them....NOT necessary I'm told ...they won't issue a return .... guess I'll have 2 sets of 30/06 dies.
Wonder whats at work ???
-
Enjoy your meetup with the Coffinmaker, M-2. Never met him, but his writing"s a hoot.
It's not hard to hit the wrong item on the postal scanner's menu, and if you don't notice at first, you have about a 15 second window to correct it, before it uploads, then it can't be changed. Delivered to individual is #2 option, I think Mailroom may be #5, right below on the keypad. No businesses on my route, so I don't get to use "Mailroom" much.
I also have 2 sets of '06 dies. One with a case stuck fast in it. Learned the hard way to use real case lube on rifle cases, the stuck one is from "one shot" spray case lube. OK for pistol or neck sizing only, not so much for F/L rifle re-sizing.

Not happy at all with Amazon

I ordered something from Dillon on the 14th and according to the tracker it's still sitting there waiting to be picked up ::) ::)
Kid, in cigars I like the CAO MX2, a double maduro, In pipe tobacco I'm looking for something that's mild with a nice scent so as to not offend others around me, Not a fan of flavored cigars, so I most likely wouldn't like a flavored pipe tobacco. Thanks for the advice from all that gave it.
-
M-2, the One Shot may work for you, if you're just going to neck size. I have total 4 in 30-06, and one's a Garand, so all my loading is made "Garand friendly", sized full length, 150gr bullets and not too slow powder(usually IMR 4064).
-
Roo... that's funny right there :)
PE....I load 30/40 Krag and just neck size ...my load is 12.5 Grains Trail Boss & a 195 grain GC cast bullet.
I'll start there with the 30/06 - 12.5 Grains TB but use a Coated 165 Grain cast bullet non GC'ed , being its a Bolt action I don't need to blow back the auto action.
I did order some case lube anyway, though I have no issue with the 30/40 cases & One Shot ..can't hurt I guess.
But I'm open to suggestions or opinions
-
Is this new brass or range brass? My point if range brass you should fill lenght size it?
-
Are you going to anneal the brass?
Major AE it is surprizing from Dillon- that is what i thought with my vendor would be no nonsence. So going to blame courier. The next day, Ordered from Duluth Trading with free shipping it was here in three days. Order was exactly as ordered. With 30% discount.
-
I use H4895 for .30-06 and .30-40. Like PE, I load my full power .30-06 to be "Garand Friendly" since I like shooting a non bolt-action once in the awhile. I think I use Hornady paste case lube.
Slim
-
I used both H4895 and trail boss in my 30-30 and 45-70 loads had intended to load some . 308 both ways. Used Federal rifle primers
-
New Winchester Brass from Midway will only be used in the 1917.
No Garand to feed :-\
Maybe to annealing , don't think so though, we'll see. I'll try not over work the brass.

Are there any Pipe smokers here? Looking for suggestions on tobacco, Figured a Pipe would be easier than the cigars I've been smoking at the matches.
Back when I used to smoke pipes, I got Three Star from Iwann Ries in Chicago. Best Stuff Ever.
I don't know if they still exist. According to Herr Google, they are still around.
"Iwan Ries and Company is a tobacconist located in Chicago, Illinois, one of the oldest family owned tobacco companies in North America,"
After moving away for chicagoland, I switched to Captain Black.
https://captainblackpipe.com/cbp-home/
always smelled nice, even non-smokers liked it.
oddly the folks who can't stand cigaret smoke did not mind it either.
hope this helps

Hopefully the Trailboss load you mentioned will do well in the M-1917. I use 12 gr and a 190 gr cast GC bullet in my '03, but my '17 doesn't like it. Haven't experimented too much yet, though. This particular bullet seems to have too small diameter in the nose section for the '17,but not for the '03 or 30-40. Actually, I've never had any success yet with any Enfield I own with cast, although I've never really worked much with them.
You probably won't need to anneal your cases, and shouldn't need to do more than neck size the first time just to straighten out out-of-round case necks common in bulk packed brass.

Advice for Holiday travelers.
When stopping at a gas station/convenance store if prepaying for gas look at the pump number before you come in.
The clerk don't care if batteries you forgot to buy are cheaper at Walmart, it's closed.
If I don't have it, I don't have it, can't stock everything.
And don't say anything about it being awful I have to work the holiday, if people like you thought ahead they couldn't afford to pay me holiday pay. ;D

Sunshine here, instead of the forecasters wild guessers cloudy weather. Number One daughter has a stomach bug, so the shredding of the wrapping paper will be delayed a little. Doing a little firewood work in the meantime. Farmall was stubborn this morning, wouldn't start with the crank, but the barely there battery started it-barely. Holding off on the battery purchase as long as possible, this one's about 5 years old, no charging system, i just hook it to a charger periodically.
-
Same here with #1 daughter, yesterday. Seems to be better this morn.
What model of Farmall?
Light flurries were coming down earlier.
Pecan caramel rolls with be ready in a bit.

Farmall "A". First owned by my Dad's uncle, restored by my Dad and his brother in the early 90's. Still runs good, but needs some cosmetic work again. Not the best tractor for a sidehill Ozark farm, Great uncle Ralph rolled it one time, almost killed him. When it came to us, with motor frozen up, it had the wheel on the short axle side turned around to dish it out wider, as well as lots of wheel weights on the long axle side to try and keep that from happening again.
-
Another set of twins this morning...Bucks
-
Well, I was gonna post pics of the old FArmall, but it seems I can't resize the pics small enough to post. WAs soooo simple on Win 7, but noweven when I find an option to resize, tell it to save, and poof, it saves it to some hidden file, somewhere in the hard drive.
Tried searching online about re-sizing pic, only to find a bunch of other people with the same problem, with no answer other than get Photoshop.
Why did they not keep Seven?
Even better, why did they not keep XP???
Also, forgive the double capitals that keep coming up, kids got the keyboard full of cookie crumbs, can't seem to blow them out, even with the air compressor.
-
Did all Farmall A's have wide fronts? My in-laws have an A.
I had a Super C with a narrow front at one time. I have a Ferguson 30 now.
Slim
-
OK... did some deep breathing to calm down. only sorta worked, so I went to the reloading shed. THat worked. Shed's kind of cold, but "Mr Heater" on a propane tank helped a lot.
Anyways, yes, all "A" FArmalls are wide front, BUT, they're narrow and the engine/transmission is offset, they were meant for garden/ truck farm use, it's offset for better visibility of the crops. So if you get the "short axle" downhill, they can tip.
Here's the front view of one from the net, not mine:
-
So much easier to snag pictures off the net than using my own camera.
IN other news, Older Daughter still feeling puny.
WAs up to about 50 today. After lunch took a short motorcycle ride, then a little shooting.
Shot a few groups from the bench to test some loads in my .308 Browning, and .30 Carbine. Looked promising, but may try a different powder for the .308. I bought a folding shooting bench and some bags last month, it's no real benchrest, but better than I can hold from a sitting or even prone position.
-
Have you tried 748 in the 308?
-
That's my next move in .308. IF I get off work in time, I'll pick up a can on the way home.

Did a little bear hunting today. Didn't see anything, but that's pretty normal. I did see some healthy looking deer, though. They should make it through the winter.
My girlfriend has had a great day traveling. The flight from Spain to England was delayed for weather, and she missed her connection. The airline got her on another flight, since it was their fault the plane left before she had even gotten off the other one but instead of heading to Denver, she had to go to Las Vegas, lay over two hours, then get into Denver. Which means she missed her flight to Billings by 6 hours. And on top of all that, they lost her luggage. Fortunately she has a friend in Denver that she's staying with tonight, then get back to it in the morning. Things like that are why I don't have any desire to travel.

Pickup started yesterday with out a jump, slow but enough. Cables looked fine, volt meter went way over. Parked in drive, wife pulled in. Let it run an hour meter was normal. Switch is worn to the point you can pull the key on or off.
