Anybody else having problems on the CAS site with sloooowwww response. Last nite in posting on sites it would take forever for responding things to happen such as 'preview', 'post', checking threads, going from one site to another. I went to other websites and had no problem going from one thing to another. Went to another gun forum and posted a reply and all just 'zipped' through. This morning on this forum it was slow-had to reenter password twice before it took hold, slow to navigate around the forum. Just checking if me or others are experiencing anything. Note---I'm still in elementary school when it comes to 'putor' abilities, grew up in era when books and slide rules were the norm. Have to observe how fast this posting 'gets posted'!
-
Yes noticed it Wednesday & yesterday too
-
When I posted this and clicked the post 'button' what was on the screen sort of just stayed 'frozen in time' and didn't do a thing. I clicked the save icon and went to the CAS icon I save on my home screen and this thread was posted. Noticed it doing that last nite. Both times logging onto this forum this AM and last nite, the forum was slow to appear. As I advised in my original posting, trying to log on 'it' (whoever it is) would tell me 'something has gone wrong-please reenter password'. All other sites I go on around the web having no problem with.
-
I thought it was my ipad/ wireless wifi that was funky. Whenever it rains my connection seems to get weird. Glad it’s not me this time.
-
When I first clicked to go to this site it was very slow responding, but a little better within the site. Prob'ly Russkies.
-
It can be anything from russkies, red chinese, hackers etc
to a service outage due to solar flares, fire, flood, earthquake, or other major bad juju

you can use ping and tracert to see what is happening and where the bottleneck is.

Ah ha ! ...a Canadian that speaks GREEK to me.... ;D
-
This site is still hinky at times-SLOW!!! Maybe the Marshall needs to runs some Mr. Clean through it. Nothing else on my sites or computer use is so. Reminds me of the old dial-up system.

Zorba the Canadian?

no problems here! I have an I-Mac, maybe that's why?? ::)
-
aaaaaaaaaaand today it is slower than dirt for me ....
trying a few different browsers ....
back shortly...

-
I tried some other browsers and it seem the slowness may be browser or version related:
older ver of firefox, 56.0.2 (64-bit) is VERY slow
IE10 (internet explorer ) ver 10.0.9299.16635 is also VERY SLOW
newer version of firefox, 61.0.1 (64-bit) is normal-fast
google chrome version 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (32-bit) is normal-fast
hope this helps

Well it's 2113 hrs Iowa time and the forum is zippin around with no problem. Have to see how it posts this message. I could be makin a liar out of myself. Prof: I don't use any of the other search engines other than internet explorer. Wife had chrome once had problems with it. Are any of them better than Internet explorer? Have never used Firefox. Well gonna punch the Post and see what happens.
Update 2114 hrs: Everything is workin liked a greased ball goin down the barrel! ;D

i am seeing occasional "hangs" today, and ping and traceroute tell me the path to the server is ok.
i'll try some other tremote diagnostics later if it keeps up.
Hey Crow - I generally prefer Mozilla Firefox, it is independant, and the folks running it are ornery :-)
I can castrate it limit how much data it collects/sends and easily hack modify it.
Google Chrome is "ok" now, initially it really sucked was remarkably deficient. It has some features that are
useful but Google has proven to the world that they are not to be trusted.
I do not trust Microsnot at all, thus I do not trust IE at all. I had to haclk and slash Win7 something fierce, and
don't get me started on Win10 - they actually, by design, try to use YOUR computer to distribute updates!!!!
Apple Macs are good .... but I donlt trust them or their "we know best" attitude either.
one day I will get around to using a decent version of Linux, but I really don;t want to be in the sys admin business anymore.

I'm experiencing some slowness also. I thought it was just me but other websites are functioning normally.
Right after I made this post, the slowness stopped. The website acted normally for a while and then I began to have occasional periods of slowness again.
-
I've had nothing but trouble, slow, unresponsive-at times it will be normal, then slow. Right after I made my last post on the 19th, it was normal-15 min later, slow/dead. Prof Marvel, thanks for your info, but you might as well be speaking Portuguese when you start talking about pings and tracerts. No idea whatsoever. At times I will hit the CAS City icon I have on my computer and just a blank blue screen with the CAS logo will show at top and be there for a spell, sometimes a blank white screen. If I delete it and click it back on, sometimes it will do the same or the website will come up and either be normal or slow. It was slow this morning. I don't know what it will do when I try to post this. Marshall Holloway needs to get into the innards of this site and do a check. This is the only site I'm experiencing any problems with. Sounds like I'm not alone.
Took along time for this to post. Tried to modify to enter this info, wouldn't respond. Deleted site, had problem getting back on. The slowness and unresponsiveness is maybe why there is little posting in the last 7-8 days. Where are the moderators?
-
When I hit reply to post this...
it took over a minute to open the screen...
Now I'll post .... about 7 seconds ... to modify and post this report
-
I've been experiencing the same kind of intermittent issues. Maybe we're just going for the authentic 19th century feel--send a message and wait months for a reply. Or maybe the regular telegrapher is away and his replacement is slower. ;D

It was sloooow 30 minutes ago and blazing fast now! When the regular telegrapher is away they actually resort to semaphor. :)
-
I too have had some issues.
Some have been in just reading posts on various forums.
I don't reply to everything posted, only to those that I feel I maybe able to offer something of help. It is very frustrating! I often have to shut down my internet connection and restart it to get things back.
My best,

Well it was slow last night and again this morning for me. so i did a little test with firefox.
it all appears to be on the forum server side, severe latency trying to make connections to "other resources"
connected to http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/
27 sec "waiting for downrangetv"
28 sec "waiting for cascity.com"
then some others, 1 -2 seconds
then
35 sec "waiting for pagead2.googlesyndication.com"
clicked "new replies"
9 sec "waiting for cascity"
clicked
25 sec "waiting for cascity"
about a second each for "downtrangetv" , "facebook" and different ads.
this is all rough timing done with my wristwatch!

ps: it took over 30 seconds to post this after I clicked on save,
and over 47 seconds for it to come up again when I clicked on edit....
-
It is bad even with google chrome.
first connection was almost instant, then it took 2 1/2 minutes to login in.
clicking on "recent unread topics" only turns up the "73 uberti blowup" thread even tho i have read
it 3 times.... and it hasn;t changed ....
I am emailing the boss requesting he review this thread, there is clearly a problem with the forum database.

Other than the slowness coming and going, sometimes quickly, everything works normally for me. When I click on my CasCity bookmark, it remembers me so I'm still logged in, and goes straight to the Unread Topics listing, and the topics I have viewed disappear from that list when I revisit the site. I am using Opera browser, haven't tried any others.
-
The Boss has replied back that there seems to be a hardware problem.
According to my "outside-in" webpage tests it is getting better.

Same here thanks for the fix.

I've also had the same experience, this is probably what has viewers walking away and not posting , the site has been very slow, with hardly anyone posting for days at a time...
tEN wOLVES ???
-
Ten Wolves, as far as I know the site has been fine since Marshall Halloway had it fixed a few months ago. Has been fine for me, anyway.
I do log on from another city on my brother's computer, and after that upgrade my bookmark for the "show unread posts since last visit" page doesn't work or is very slow. I haven't gotten around to fixing that bookmark, I just go to Cascity.com and start from there and that is very fast. That same bookmark still works fine on my laptop.
-
PLUS ONE TO Abilene. Site speed has been exemplary since the last fix.
