Title: 2 Trapdoors in Central MO
Post by: Drydock on July 28, 2009, 03:23:21 PM
Bobs guns just outside Jefferson city has 2 Trapdoors, both in Very Good to Excellent condition,  Both equipped with Buffington sights and good tight actions, did not get to look down the barrels, an M1884 Infantry for $675, and an M1879 Cadet for $950.  I consider the 1884 a particularly good buy.

Sgt. D.,

From what I saw at the gun show this past weekend, that is a very good price!

The 1884 is a steal at that price - for what you see them going for in my neck of the woods.

I had a Trapdoor infantry rifle with the rod bayonet that I never should have let go.

Heck the pair of back-up pistols I traded for were used in one match and then I used them to trade for something else.

Oh well - live and learn...

Would you be willing to check the bore?

Drydock - if the bore looks good please let me know.

I am potentially interested and at the price getting the antique shipped is no big deal.

Thanks, V/r

Thanks Drydock.

As an example in Nor Va an 1884/1888 rifle at about 70-80% runs about 1200.00 on the cheap side.

I'm not sure but what if the cadet is in the same condition as the 1884, it may be the better bargain. The cadets were a lot more rare.
