Title: AR500 steel targets
Post by: Froogal on February 15, 2024, 10:17:53 AM
Feel free to move this topic if I put it in the wrong place.

Basically, I have a few of those ready made steel targets that are made from that AR500 steel. They have holes for hanging, but I think they would be a bit more versatile if a bracket was to be welded on. That way I could simply hang them from just about anything. Are there any tricks for welding on those targets? Anything to be careful of?

Lincoln tombstone welder and 6011 rod. Would a different type of rod be more suitable?

7018 using reverse dc polarity will be the best bet to get anything to really hold a weld.

I may have some 7018, but I'm pretty sure my welder is not capable of that reverse dc polarity.

It will work on straight ac but does much better in reverse dc
