Title: J. J. Foster holster
Post by: Books OToole on November 21, 2023, 08:44:40 AM
I trying to....I'm not sure what I am trying to do.  I have posted photos of a couple of holsters.  The one on the right is a copy of Frank James' holster for a 1903 Colt. (He died in 1915)  The one on the left is marked JJ Foster Kansas City MO.  The Foster Harnes shop was at 511 Main Street KCMo, from 1889-1929.  The Foster marked holster fits a S&W DA 38 beautifully.

I guess what I am getting at:

Does the Original Frank James holster have a maker's mark.

Hi Mike,
I have not seen Frank's original.  Is it at the James Farm Museum?

I haven't seen the original either. That's a fine looking holster. Thanks for the photos.

I have not yet saw his holster either. Do you have any photos of it?
Great looking holsters by the way.

The Frank James (original) holster was mentioned and pictured in an edition of True West a few years back.  I believe it is in a private collection. I don't recall the maker of the copy.  Bryan Buck of 3B Shooting Supply had it made for me.
