Title: Restoration of a Sharps
Post by: Kent Shootwell on July 04, 2023, 11:09:41 AM
Having a long time interest in Sharps but never the budget for an original I found a Sharps at a collectors show that had been incorrectly refinished. The price was low enough to justify the purchase and I felt that I could make it a bit more correct. The lever catch spring was broken and an internal screw was badly damaged which I was able to find original parts for. After some minor touch up on the metal and giving it charcoal case coloring the wood got cleaned and a few dents raised. No sanding on the wood and very little on metal it now looks pretty good to me. The bore is quite nice and everything works as issued. It shoots and even the priming system works. All the markings on the metal are clear too. Time well spent.

Very nice! The Sharps is my favorite single shot rifle.
