Not exactly Cowboy Action related. Move if you need to.
Had a guy message me about re-creating a holster that he has loved/used for many years. The holster is a Brauer H837 that fits his short barreled Colt Python and His Ruger GP100. His holster was now soft and pretty much worn out.
He sent me some photos of the holster so I could know what he was wanting. I told him that I would gladly do this for him. He mailed me the holster to use for refrence.
Here is the original holster and the one I made for him.
I made a few slight changes like putting a border around the basketweave and used nickel hardware but overall I think I stayed true to the original design.

WOW you nailed it..
I have a circa 1929-30 Bauer Brauer Bros. duty holster,
the patent date is February 28, 1928.
It came with the Colt Police Positive belonging to Officer William Stackhouse of the Cincinatti Motorcycle
Dept.

I'd say you did a great job on it, Rube. You even got the basketweave at the right angle. It looks great!
Maybe after replies die off, we can move it to the end of the 'non-cowboy' thread. For now we'll leave this thread where it is so people can see it.

That is pretty cool. I love it when the history of a gun or holster can be shared.

Thanks Marshal.

Your customer should be very happy. He's getting a first-class job that's a perfect match.

Hi Rube
You nailed it all right.

I've never seen that design. It's cool that you could take it off the belt or put it on while wearing it, like a paddle.

Yeah, It's pretty neat. I don't have a Python or GP100 but it holds the little Diamondback Sidekick pretty nicely. I borrowed my father's Python and it fit nicely.

This thread got me motived to pull out my collection of Milsurp & duty holsters.
Not that I set out to collect the holsters but acquired some with the actual guns in them.
It sort of became a collection, then a quest to have the associated gun holster.
Perhaps a interesting side bar to collecting the guns themselves.
My Bauer Brothers Duty is an H16 BTW.
I made a pattern for someone on this BB as he admired the design and want to make one.
Rube, you are a craftsman. :)

:) Well Heck ;)
I'll take the easy way out!!
A HUGE PLUS ONE for ALL of the above Superlatives!!

So is it Brauer or Bauer? The makers mark on that original used said Brauer.
I just saw your collection. Great stuff.
Thanks for the comments.

Ahh, okay. I just did't know if I was reading the stamp wrong or if it was two different companies or what. Thanks.
