Title: 1881-85 SAA holster
Post by: Crossdrawnj on September 08, 2022, 03:34:06 PM
I am looking for a source for a 1885 (?) cavalry holster.  Specifically, the Span Am period for a colt 5 1/2" SAA or clone. This has to fit over the Mills belt when full. Any help will be appreciated.

Carrico Leather.  I've got one that I used at this year's Grand Muster, and the quality is excellent!

I forgot to mention, if you need one for a 5 1/2", What Price Glory had some on e-Bay.  Not the quality of Carrico, but very serviceable, and probably as good as the originals.

I thought David retired? ??? Good stuff though.

I think I got the one for my 1899 S&W from Coon Creek although it isn't the quality of Carrico

Which pattern are you looking for? The Pattern 1881, with the two holes in the flap (originally for the Schofield and Colt's), shortend to 5-1/2", or the later one with a single hole in the flap? Also, what is the width of the Mils belt? Trailrider Products should be able make either.

Hi, I have a Slim Jim from David and Miller-Fachet holster from Trailrider, both look great and work great.  I like the Miller-Fachet because it's authentic AND is't a left handed holster.

Could easily do the Miller-Fechet for a 5-1/2" Colt's. "Say, 'when'!"  ;)

It appears my website, which was piggybacked on the Gunfighter Zone, has been deleted without contacting me! :(  Anyone wishing to reach me, please email me at trailrdr@ecentral.com . Thank you.
Stay well and safe!

I reached out to Wolfears.  He called me right back and I placed an order. A check is on the way and the wait time is reasonable too.

Thanks for the references. I'm looking forward to the finished product.
