I haven't seen any posts about these guns.  I have tried a standard search of this web site and have, pardon the pun, come up dry. They were introduced by EMF a number of years ago through the influence, from what I learned, of John Bianchi. They are considered  by the ATF as a non gun.  I thought they were a great idea: dry fire with a dummy gun for practice. Practice your spinning with a DG and don't worry about dropping it. If I'm not mistaken, these were only available for a few years.  They are exact replicas of the steel SAA's that pietta makes. I two: a 5 1/2" blue CH, and a 4 3/4" blue CH model.  My son has a 7 1/2" nickel model. 

Are any other members familiar with this variation?

i doubt these are what you meant because they were pot metal construction (got one back in the 70s at the Knotts Berry Farms cowboy town gun shop).

i remember someone selling a cap & ball gun that looked like a peacemaker but that’s probably different as well.

These are all steel guns. Not the cheap metal ones imported from Japan of the Replica  model Company in the 70's.
