I have a lot of the groups greatest hits albums book marked in my music folder, now I have some more to add to my forgotten list.

I played in bands (drummer) in the late 60's and all the way through the mid 90's. Top 40 band, We played a lot of them songs. Good times!! 8)

In the Sixties, I was in High School ( no ! not all of them  ::) graduated in 66  :)

I wanted to pay the guitar, even had a Kay Note Acoustic Guitar.
 But my calling was in stage production ( lighting the bands ) and I toured with some staging concerts.
That was in my twenties 1968 mid 70's ...

The music was and still is the best and I to it listen still and get nostalgic.

I am still moved by the music of my youth, but I have mixed emotions about watching the original artists still performing those hits onstage today. Hearing the music brings back youthful memories and energizes me, watching the original artists trying to marshal their performance energy just serves to remind me of the passage of time.
 
I have visions of myself, and other contemporaries, when in the Assisted Living home falling to the floor with our walkers whenever "Do The Freddie" is being played. And the sheer havoc of trying to get everyone back upright again.

Well, I am a bit younger, my era of teen music was the 80s, but I enjoyed the 60s and 70s through my older sisters, so I loved the tunes.  It is on my lunch time play list.   I agree in seeing our past idols age.   I remember watching cocoon in college with my roommates.   We decided we would all go to an old age facility together and raise hell.   Ha.   We still talk about it. 

I played in a garage band when I was in highschool.    25 years later we were at our highschool reunion and decided to get back together in a few months.   I was just starting my leather working hobby and made straps for everyone with the band name on it (mispelled it twice!) and a leather stick bag for our drummer.   We got back together and for a weekend, it was 1984.   We recorded a few and compared it to an old recording we had from back in the day.   Musically we sounded better, but the energy level was not at its peak.   

Ah the halcyon days of youth.

For us old timers...

Here in Melbourne, FL. we have a radio station, 98.5 "The Beach" that plays '50, '60, '70's, and sometimes '80's music 24-7.
It is the only radio station I listen to, both at home and in the car.
They are syndicated with many other stations across the US. You maybe able to check your local listing to be able to find out what station call letters might be used in your area. I hope you can find something like it!

I take the other side of this - I get a real buzz out of watching those old guys up there grinnin as they do their stuff - watched a "Ventures" concert last night  - Nokie Edwards as guest lead guitar (gone now I hear) - he's pretty laid back but that band was full of energy and they looked like it was still coming easy .

I don't mind the age factor.... its a little strange though....

Half of the Beatles & Beach Boys.  Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers ,  Don Everly and on and on .... :(
The Righteous Brothers sang of it , and  I want to believe there is a Rock & Roll Heaven.

I watched Peter Noone performing, he still has the youthful looks and sounded great.... :)

I was a bit saddened a few years ago when Debbie Harry of Blondie did a TV appearance. The years of heavy drug use had obviously taken a heavy toll on her.
