How would rate it quality wise ?
US M2 Holster for M1917 Revolvers
Code: 103720000
In 1942 the Army re-issued old stocks of M1917 .45 ACP revolvers, but a new holster was adopted.
Price: US$ 36.00
US M1909 Holster for .45 Caliber Revolver
Retail Price: US$ 48.00
Code: 103719000

I don't have that one, but I've got a USMC holster for .38's from WPG, and it's quite nice. You could also check with El Paso Saddlery. Great quality, but quite a bit higher, and you'll probably have to wait a while for it.
-
I bought mine from World War Supply.

I'm debating a replica .... :-\
I use to have a original, that I foolishly allow to get away ::) some 30 years ago DoH !
-
Keep in mind leather tends to deteriorate over time. If you're going to use it, it would probably be best to buy a new one.
-
Yeah , you're right, I can give it some Hollywood Prop patina and it will be fine for both field use & Veteran Museum static display.
-
Wear it everyday and it well get patina. ;)

.....on a like note, a buddy and I both got the Ropes holsters from WPG. Good holster, well made, does what we intended them to do. Don't think you could go wrong with that .45 holster.

Thanks,
I do have the British issue Sam Brown holster for my 1911 from What Price Glory and it is good...
The Original I was watching on eBay is over $100 now with an hour to go ....
So I think I'll order the WPG holster

Looks like Man the Line has a 24 Hour sale on this holster today. Looks black in the attached photo but the text clearly states it's brown. I've bought things from MTL before and I've never had any complaints. As a result MTL sends me these short notice sales from time to time.

......any problems receiving items from MTL? Never dealt with them, have heard from MBs that orders from the website can be sketchy. No issues with ordering items off EBAY. They do show some nice stuff. Although on the website, none of the clothes (US) are available, as well as belts and ammo pouches?
-
I've gotten a couple things from them with no problem, for what it's worth.
-
I've ordered 4 items from them, first was no problem, last three never shipped, after a month I asked and got refunds. All were ordered from E-bay. I always wondered why they listed the same article multiple times in their E-bay store for different prices and shipping costs? After that, I un-subscribed from their e-mail notices. They did offer some pretty unique stuff, but if it never arrives????
-
That does not give me a warn fuzzy ::)
EDIT ...well then, since I stated the above
I have received two emails, that change my statement
one is a completed invoice and the other the USPS tracking #

My 2 cents worth....I have a number of WPG leather products. All are excellent quality and durability. I also have a couple of MTL pieces. They were cheap, feel cheap and age cheap. OK for the price but I will only buy from WPG, Carrico leather or Wolf Ears from now on.

........wasn't familiar with Wolf Ears. The holster prices are comparable to Carricos. They have some nice belts....
.....the autocorrect on my tablet sucks!

Wolf Ears responded with ...
" Sir, if you look at wolfearsequipment.com you will find my 1881 holster. By shortening that holster for the 1917 revolver it will look almost exactly like the 1909. Your cost will be $98 plus shipping of $15. Total would be $113.00 "
Stan Dolega wolf ears equipment .... I was not interested in that concept .
I did not contact David...Doh ! Maybe I should have :-\
I have a couple of WPG leather product I rate good , the photo(s) I posted are from Jerry's page.
I do have a P38 holster from MTL, and it is good . I guess I'll find out :-\

I have a web belt from him for CAS. I really like it. Great quality and enough adjustment to wear with just pants/shirt or over my heaviest winter gear, great coat etc.

That is disappointing to hear re: the 1909 holster. I need one for my US Army 1909.
I have a couple of David C. holsters and they are really top quality.
I do believe the MTL has several levels of quality. My one is a CW holster that I bought to do a "post saddler" modified Cavalry holster. Another project that I need ot finish. ::)
-
I used David's cavalry tack for years back in my reenacting days, and I have his S&W #3 holster...
Why I did not think of him is a quandary :-\
" I do believe the MTL has several levels of quality "
that is my fear... but @ $ 21 I'll expect the worst and hope to be surprised :-X
I think the P38 holster was on sale too and was quite good...
I did a little "Hollywood" age for the camera to it and it responded well to its new look
-
Pacific Canvas and Leather made a great one, but sadly folded a couple years ago. They also mad a great 1881 Schofield holster.
-
I don't suppose there a lot makers of this pattern ...so I guess the importers are stocking the same ones.
Anyway my holster arrived , a day ahead of expected , I give MTL props for quick shipping
The holster is made of about 9 oz leather , the finish is Hershey chocolate brown .
For $21 it is bargain , on a scale of 10... I put it a an 8
The M1917 fits quite well
have dulled the finish - it has faux warn finish now, it should just get better from here
before & after

Looks good.

I'm pleased with final look , now rubbed out with Skidmore's
