Title: New grips for my Lightning.
Post by: RRio on July 09, 2021, 04:02:01 PM
Every since I bought my Cimarron Lightning, I have hated the grips that came on it. The wood grips themselves are okay, but the little Cimarron medallions the put on, make the gun look cheap. Besides that, Mike Harvey (owner of Cimarron) whose is a stickler for historic detail, should know that they are not historically accurate. Colt started using them on other guns around the 1900s, and never on their Lightning or Thunderer.

Beside that, IMHO, they are just plain tacky.

Anyway, I bought a pair of Magna Tusk grips for it. While they are not a perfect fit. they are close enough for Government work. They feel and look great.

Those look good!  Who made them?  I'm also not a fan of the grip medalions.  Fortunately, they don't' put them on the Thunderer, nor the BP-framed Model P's.

Made by Arizona Custom Grips. Google their name to contact. here's a pic from the Nikon.

The screw in the grips makes it look more like an original Lightning.
