Not bad at all....needed some TLC
Some carding of rust out side at the front sight , probably caused by the bayonet , no big deal
Good rifling no pitting , bright lands
Head space looks good
Tula 1944 war production
Stock was discolored by a slip-on rubber shoulder wimp butt pad, but since the photo I have blended that in to match
Its a wall hanger in the reloading room for now , till I get around to finding some brass

The MNs were sighted in with the bayonet attached, so expect to have to adjust your sights. Also, I may have a bayonet around here somewhere if you need one.
I was looking on eBay at bayonets
I could see one on this old gun .
I have to get dies and brass ,,,I have coated bullets from Missouri Bullets I use them to load for 303 British.
Along with the rifle the PO gave me three surplus pack of ammo.
One he opened an shot several rounds ( I also shot it, but just twice :o I found the recoil some unpleasant)
I suppose I could pull the bullets and reload Trail Boss to tame it down some.
Krag data works well. 10-12 grains unique works very well for lead loadings.
Been using 10 gr of VV Tin Star with a 193 gr gc Hunters Supply boolit in my Krags and 03s for our clubs BAM shoots. Never shot jacketed in any of them other than a couple of M1 garand ball rds in the 03. BIG difference. Like them in the garand not in the 03. Don't ever remember shooting a MN. Have fun with your new toy Comrad Major2.
I like your 193 gr gc Hunters Supply boolit, in my Krag.... hadn't try it in the 06's
Well there is always this. ;D

Probably 10 or so years ago , I came close to buying one , it was hex receiver Tula with accessories.
The consigner had it listed at my LGS , but he pulled it ::)
This is the only one ( the one in my photo) I ever shot, and I was not a fan for the recoil (Surplus ammo) so I just never tried for another one.
Now that is has been given to me....
I will get some Prvi Partizan Brass 7.62x54R when it is available again, and load for fun not punishment
I watched restoration video where the dude , stripped and restored a Mosin Nagant stock...considered it :'(
But decided, NOT ... this a war production 1944 Tula, it probability earned its scars and at some point was armory refurbished and imported... one of thousands years ago.
A Mosin Nagant was never anything but a homely and functionally ugly battle rifle that won the eastern front.
Restoring the stock might be a fun project, it would be something akin to lipstick on Bruce Jenner.
Careful.................
no kidding ..... Trial of the century and Brucey try'n' to keep up with the Kardashian's
Funny how Robert Kardashian was involved in both ::)

I'm not sure the lipstick thing sounds like any fun what so ever. ::)
Just so you folks all know, Minwax Red Mahogany is an excellent match for the Tula factory finish.
They will receive at least honorable mention in the ugliest rifle ever made competition, look more suitable for a boat oar than shooting but with silver tipped ammo my tula hex receiver MN will shoot sub 2 in at 100 before my cataracts were fixed. Have not tried it since the fix and I can see the front sight a bit better
