Title: Texas Star Build
Post by: hp246 on September 06, 2019, 06:13:08 PM
I am contemplating a Texas Star build for my personal range.  I have most of the plan worked out.  Looking for simple ideas for the connecting mechanism to attach the falling plates to the arm.  Has anyone used magnets?  If so how did they work out and how heavy a magnet do you need?  Also wondering what length arms.  I'm thinking 12 inches.  Photos are always good.

the KVC range for NCOWs has a purchased Texas Star.  It uses magnets.  They are strong magnets and work well.   The magnets took five direct hits from a 22 and did not budge.   38 took them right off.

Are the magnets attached to the petal or are they attached to the arm?

I am working off of memory, but I believe they are attached to the arm.  There is a secondary arm that is hinged that closes behind the petal portion.
