I figured maybe if I started the thread, I would get notifications when Y'all post,
Happy Easter and make sure you check the foil wrapped eggs to make sure they haven't been replaced with grapes

Dang Easter Bunny.

What a cruel joke even on such a foolish day.
My photobucket account has locked me out. Can’t share easter photos...
Coffee and tea is ready and some boiled eggs

Morning y'all.
Thanks for the coffee.
Happy Easter.

I've always said , Have an Eggy Easter.

Happy Easter all.
Weather is 70 and sunny in this first day of April. Had our normal Sunday city trip, and it was over 80 down there.
Putting ham in the oven in just a few minutes. In the mean time, I'm going to walk the dog.
--TK
-
I'll stir the coals for the early crew.
I'm up late waiting for the dog to dry off. My two year old Labrador just had her first taste of skunk. She's had a bath in Technu poison oak/ivy treatment and peroxide, and another with baking soda and dog shampoo. So far it's taken the smell down a few notches, from "overpowering" to "definitely still there but she's allowed in the house."
Oddly enough, the skunk followed her after the fact, and was coming down the trail after us. Never had that happen before. It didn't show any signs of rabies, but had I been heeled there would be one less skunk in our world.
If only skunks believed in April fool's. :-X

Bathe the dog in tomato juice if the smell lingers
Coffee and tea is up and ready...

Scales on a boning knife, after light staining and first coat of oil.
Arrows show top, grain runs bottom to top, then top to bottom.
-
Very Nice grain in those, Good Job.
-
Yep kind of fancy for a boning knife.
-
Life is too short to use crappy wood. ;D
This was a bit of a surprise when sanded, stained and oiled.
-
Kewl scales.
Boots came in the mail. Breaking them in now.

Evening all.
65 and sunny today. I'd almost thought spring was here for real, but we're forecast for more rain/sn*w this weekend. On the coast they're forecast for up to 7 inches of rain. I'm thinking it may be a good time for a trip to the salt flats or something.
--TK
-
Some are about finished, some have 1 coat of linseed oil, but I have this many final sanded and stained if I thought they needed it.
Wood varies between Eastern Black Walnut, Northern California Black Walnut (Claro Walnut) Old World Walnut of different cultavars and Old World x Eastern Black Walnut hybrid (Royal Walnut).
Will have to final polish the blades and hone.
Got more to refurbish as I have time and got some saw blades recently to make some blanks to copy a couple of these old knives.
-
Got enough walnut to last a while yet and can get reasonable priced Eastern Black Walnut at a local mill.
Wanted some more Old World and Claro and been looking a bit. Once again the damned Yuppies are messing things up. Latest thing for the Prius drivers is what is called live edge tables or as I call them ugly crap and a waste of good wood. Yep they have run the price of walnut up. >:(
Tree hunting, may have one found I can have for help cutting it. Waiting to see if the sister decides on it's removal. Got time. Need to cut it in winter. $120 an hour for the sawing, 2 years of air dry in the garage attic and my retired cuz has the saws and planer to make more usable pieces.
Picture is a Yuppie table.

Oh, tablet is learning, I type damned and Yuppies appears at the top as a next word option. ;D ;D

Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent."

Don’t get your shorts and flip flops out yet Slim...
Del we use to make furnishing out of sawmill discarded slabs. The rest was firewood. It use to be free for the hauling away. They charge a pretty penny for it now.
Morning got behind on chores my tank run out of air. So i came in and found the one i was charging had popped off, and not filled. So waiting to get a refill, then return to chores.

Blizzards to the north and severe weather in the south... predicters are calling for severe weather with strait line winds and tornadic actic skies. Till tomorrow morning, radar show it west of here some now. Maybe late night when we see it.

Is Al a Yuppie?
Seems that way. I tried to type Star Wars and it tried changing it to Starbucks. :-X
I'll stir some coals and put on some water for the night owls.
Spent most of the afternoon out shooting today, so it wasn't all bad. Patterned some turkey loads, did some plinking with the Beretta. I went with my new neighbor, so he brought a Mossberg 590 and a Glock 17, and we messed with those for a while, then took off dove hunting. Didn't get anything, but did see a Bald Eagle, or an America bird as my uncle calls them.
I've been working with some apple wood making popped the past couple weeks. I still haven't decided how to finish them out yet. Thinking linseed, but it not sure I like the color it giving my test piece. I might pick up some Tung oil this week and see how I like that.

My Sister living near Columbus O., reported last night.
Snow over 3inches Sunday night Monday morning 3 1/2 inches of rain yesterday (tuesday)snow showers today. Flooding here...and tornado hit Grove City last night. We had 60 mph winds yesterday, windy again today.
Back to cooler air here this morning...
-
Comp day today, building some fence. Sunny and 61 here, but had frost and 20s this morning.
Forecast wild weatherman guess had snow again for Friday and Sunday, but now they've taken that out and just have cloudy and 40's.
-
Afternoon all.
Rain has found California today. Just a gentle drizzle, but enough to get the creek up a bit.
Introduced the dog to the 22 yesterday. It's been a long journey, but she is comfortable with a 22 now. She used to get spooked by my airgun, so this is an improvement. We spent the whole afternoon hunting grabs and ground squirrels too celebrate. Didn't get any, but that was my fault. I blame elation for screwing with trigger control.

Evening all.
2.5" of rain in the past 24 hours. Creeks are flowing brown. Temperature has been between 45 and 50 in that time.
Spent most of my afternoon out with my new hunting partner. We worked on finding and treeing squirrels, running rabbits, flushing birds and not chasing deer. We made good progress on all but the last. I had my 22, but didn't do any real shooting. Just some plinking at pine cones.

50 and rainy here today. 4" in the past two days. White stuff above 7500, so we're getting some late season snow pack.
Took the dog out for some more hunting work today. Trailed a rabbit for most of a mile before it crossed the highway and we had to call it off. Then it started to hail and the wind got up around 30mph, so we called it a day.
Sourdough loaf in the oven. Going to eat it with bean soup (the label calls it chili, ).

Step son on other hand will need to borrow the small refund to pay his. Apparently Grubhub and Uber and the likes don’t explain to employees to well that they are a independant contractor, responsible for taxes workers comp etc. all they cared was he was insured. Amound due is about 20%$. :o of course he does not have it.

Afternoon all. Got some leftover sourdough pancakes for those in need of lunch ideas.
57 and rainy today. Going to take the dog for a walk here in a while. Think we'll climb the hill outside town and visit the cell phone towers.
Finished the second draft of my book last night, or technically very early this morning. 2:30am. I somehow added 25,000 words, and four chapters in the process if editing it down. Apparently i didn't do too badly though, it only added two pages to the overall length.
I like that rubber band challenge idea. It has my vote. I'll donate some of the bands. ::)

My lady is due out of rehab this Friday. She fell in our bathroom, had a minor brain bleed but it wasn't much. She stayed in the hospital for 6 days and has been in rehab for almost 4 weeks. She's doing pretty good but I don't know if she's back to her baseline yet. We're working on it. I've been going twice a day to work with her and her therapists. All this started with a minor head, chest cold, not even the flu and two trips to the doctor. One when it started and another when it was a week old and the doc said her lungs and bp were good. Go figure.

Grrr... Missouri Dept of Revenue website's "fillable/calculating" forms won't work. Downloaded the Mo long tax forms to do by hand. FIVE pages! Got this one done today, taking it to work and giving it to a co-worker I like.
One of the ones I made from a brick saw blade.
A style I like, good butcher knife, no belly for skinning like many styles but better for boning.
Wood is fairly plain Old World/English Walnut with some staining. Linseed oil finish.
Blade was given a patina with non-iodized salt and vinegar to help prevent rusting.
The Micha knife should be done by the weekend.

Evening all.
Well, I made it to Billings. I have decided on a couple of things about the city. Number one, the roads were not well thought out. Two, hotels next to the train tracks should have gone out with the steam locomotive. Three, being down wind of an oil refinery is not good on the nose.
That being said, the city reminds me of the city back home. I think I'll be okay.
We just got to the hotel after a big event at the school. Food and speakers, and all of the new students got to formally accept our big scholarships.
I think for the rest of the day, I'm going to sit back with a cold bottle of water and not drive anywhere.

Billings is not to too hard to Navigate .... at one time the railroad and those 2 hotels is all that exsisted there. (Cows) Untill the energy people moved in it was nothing but sage cows and sheep.
Thanks for the coffee

Been trying to do a little around the house today. Got a couple skirt steaks marinading. Chopped up some peppers and onions and have got rice cooked. Looks like with some salad might be a pretty good meal. Most i have put together myself in a fee weeks.
TK from my feeble old memory . Right where the railyards and the interstates meet in Billings. Is the Bill livestock yard and Cabelas or Bass Pro Store i think night rodeo starts in May.

I'm getting a little more used to it. I did find Cabela's today. An elk sandwich and new mag later and now I'm back at the hotel watching Tombstone.
There was more stuff at the school this morning. I got registered for class, got a tour, and had lunch. It was pretty interesting, learned a lot.

Was on a can the other day and found a washer used to adjust the fan belt on an air cool VW.
Ok, no surprise with the ones I've had and worked on.
Other bolt sure looks like the head bolt off a 235 Chevy, ain't done one of those since 1980 and am sure we put all of them back in. ;D

I'm back in Anaconda as of 1900 last night. Staying until later today, then on the road. Hope to make it to Elko NV tonight. Maybe Winnemucca.
Woke up to two inches of fresh white stuff on top of the three feet from the winter. Yay.

I lived as a crow flies just over “the divide” from Anaconda, and just south of it also. By horse it was a couple days.. by pickup truck was also, at times. ...

Thanks for the coffee.. had a couple equipment failures yesterday. Setting my recovery back a bit. Fixed them now and moving on. Got outside some yesterday afterwards. I usually find a issue with my Jeep after it sits a week or so. Not this time.
Might attempt a trip to bank this afternoon. Believe it or not the company i work for, has 500 employees and still hand cuts payroll. It may end soon though. I have not picked them up for 2 weeks now ........... and the bank thinks i left town.
Have a safe day

Morning all.
Got into Fernley NV last night around 0130. Didn't the night in the back parking lot of the Flying J truck stop. I'm running almost purely on caffeine and attitude right now. But there's only about 6 hours until home.

All day rain here in NC. Good coffee weather. I did get my yard mowed yesterday including the front ditch. The ditch had been too wet to cut the last two mows. Get to go to the doctors this afternoon. Not impressed. But I plan on hitting a gun-pawn shop while I'm in town. I picked up two bricks of federal 550 .22s at Wally World Sunday. Got a local gun show this coming weekend but it's my CAS club monthly shoot on Saturday, haven't decided on what I'm shooting. Probably my Marlin Cowboy .45, Marlin pump shotgun and a pair of S&W DAs. This is my Thunder Ranch.45acp. Can't wait.

I'm back on the home and now. My dog is estatic.

CAS now allows DA pistols and Marlin pump shotguns? Or just the local CAS club?

No Slim, SASS is still as narrow minded and lawyered up as ever. My cas club, EC SASS is not affiliated with SASS, so we do what we want. We certainly have CAS rules and use both WASA rules and SASS rules which allow the shooters to safely use SA, DA s or self loaders (1911s) and the dreaded Marlin pump sg, their choice and their responsibility. We don't have any members who object to other shooters using the non SASS guns. We all enjoy the firearms, the competition and our super friends and don't get hung up on some artificial idea that it's 1873 all over again and your pistol, rifle, outfit doesn't fit. It's a game not a reenactment, enjoy yourself, be safe.
I'm the good looking guy with the muttonchops. Hey, just noticed, non of the other shooters are in British uniforms, they can't shoot because they're not correctly dressed, right???!!!

Use to shoot at 10Sleeps place, this way. Most just shot SASS. But they didn’t run you off if guns were before like 1914... if i remember correctly.
Shot some of mine that way- and shot Wildbunch (my first ever) with Blackpowder there. Someone thought i blew up my 1911.
Thought the British soldiers was just lost on wrong continent-
Trying to get some energy going again. Between the flu and this reason crude. I have been drug down. Today is first time i fed chickens on my own in over 2 weeks. I need to get it healed up and going again. My wife is needing to have some same day surgerory and will be down about 10 days. So i need to get it in gear. Then the weather don’t help. I suppose we, Just take what it hands us and go on.

Litl rooster, I also shot with an exceptional fellow named Ten Sleeps who has since passed along with his better half Ms Annie. Is this the shooter you're referring to? He was one in a million.

The one n the same

Ten Sleep started this coffee group, several of the old ones of the group have passed on.

I shot with him and enjoyed his and Ms Annies company at the NC state match numerous times. He had more fun playing this game than anybody that I've ever shot with. He came out to the beach and shot my Wild Bunch match, complete with a mock 1917, that I put together. He's certainly missed.

Sunny and 80 today. Expecting some lightening later this afternoon in the high country, and a little rain.
My bean plants mysteriously disappeared last night, and the only evidence of the culprit is a single deer pellet. So much for my beans. Didn't touch any of the sunflowers, though.
Also had to kill one of our hens this morning. She's been acting strangely the past week or so while I've been gone, and yesterday she was getting pecked at by the other hens. Then when we let them out this morning, she wouldn't come off the roost, and when my mom picked her up, she coughed up a bunch of yellow/green stuff that smelled like bad eggs. A post-mortem showed that she was egg-bound. Her entire body cavity was filled with partially shelled eggs, and broken yolk. All of her organs were pushed against her neck, cutting off the tube from crop to gizzard. Never seen anything like it. Just felt bad we couldn't have done something sooner.

'Tis 31 and sunny. "Cooler. Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain showers in the morning then rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 80 percent."

Rain has moved away for a couple of days. Mostly sunny and currently 65 degrees at 1000hours. Finished chicken duties. Rain made it a mess yesterday but drying out nice now. Need to clean nesting boxes tomorrow.
The duck pool was cleaned out today and they are like pigs in mud happy. Suzanne fed the goats and the Pig. We have been thinking about getting a Burro but decided it might be too much for us to handle. I think we have plenty to do.
Now to face the razor blade.

Afternoon all.
I think Roo sent the rain this way. We're getting pretty wet, and the high country is getting hail and lightening.
Spent my day running around with a friend in his new truck. Didn't do very much that was useful, but we only went through a quarter tank of gas, so I guess there's something to be said for a four banger. That's about all that can be said for a four banger...

We shot our monthly cas shoot today, 70 degrees, off and on clouds, nice breeze, 17 shooters, a great day. Just a 'cowboy' match but I used my .45 smith DAs. We drug out a few bolt guns to chrono loads during lunch. May is WB, get to run my M12. Going to try out my 2 inch shells. My wife nor her caregiver drank any of the coffee that I made this morning so tomorrow's joe will be today's. Stuffs too pricey to throw down the sink. Going to try and get to a local gun show tomorrow. Maybe score some powder.
-
I'll put on a pot for the late/really early crew.
Rained all day. I spent my morning doing some gun cleaning, then walked the dog. We did a good five miles. Took her out to a pond and the the stock for about an hour, then high tailed it back to the truck when the mountain across the canyon disappeared behind the wall of rain that was coming my way. I didn't make it a hundred yards before I was soaked.

Planning on Kielbasi kraut and pirogies one day this week
Oh wow Kielbasi, you bring back memories. I'm Slovenian & Czech, born and raised on Milwaukee's south side. There were several small Grocery store-butcher shops in our neighborhood that made Smoked Slovenian Sausage. It was to die for. To this day, I'd rather eat Smoked Slovenian Sausage than Filet of Mignon.

Good morning. Didn't see any powder that I wanted at the gunshow. Found a nice 1898 Krag rifle that looked unmolested for 1100.00 and a Astra 400 that was overpriced. Didn't bring either home. Another pretty day here. I'll have to mow again tomorrow.
The coffee pots mty so I'm done.
