We shot our Span Am boltgun match yesterday. It was a cold but mostly sunny day with a cool breeze. Only 5 hardy troopers and one cowgirl showed up to liberate Cuba from the Spanish. Three regulars were out with the respiratory crud and another was recovering from a minor stroke. Don't know about the other folks. To speed things up we all loaded at the same time, ran the shooters, then all unloaded and reloaded again for the next stage. In a couple of stages we shot 10 with our boltguns instead of 5 or 6 as we had in other shoots. I loaded the first 5 single and then fired the last 5 from the magazine. First time using the cut off. A lot of fun. I had the only Krag and DA Colts. Most everyone else had Mausers and SAs. I wore my usual Span Am outfit and another shooter wore Navy blues. He shot a different boltgun in each stage. He's a big time collector of military bolt action rifles. The tentative plan is for our next boltgun match to be a Punitive Expedition themed match so we'll use 1911s, 97s and bolts. Should be fun, hopefully we'll be warmer with less sickness. Remember the Maine.
Sounds like fun!
Wish I could have been there. Might have to visit someday.
You need to come see us one of these days, Drydock.
