I just traded for a Jager Dakota 12" barrel in 357 mag. Very good condition but I would like to replace the grips which have a couple small chips. Are Uberti or Pietta one piece grips compatible with the Jager? I cannot find replacement grips addressed specifically for the Jager, so i am hoping the frame is the same and compatible with other Italian made 1873 clones.
Thank you friends for any help.

I've got an Armi Jeager, almost nothing interchanges with anything else I tried, the grips and frames are different than original Colt's, and also different than Pietta 1860 or Colt's modern '51 Navy.

See attached photos of said SAA.

Those don't looked to bad , have you considered refinishing them
I have brought grips in far worst condition back to quite presentable in fact down right nice...
as an example the first photo is a set of rear vintage 1950's wood grips for H&R revolver
they were found in parts pile. Dry, chipped and finish peeling pretty rough.
The revolver right top, was an unfired model 929 1980 manufacture that had a cracked set of plastic .
these after they were refinished (hand rubbed with Skidmores ) replaced the cracked Black plastic.

I am going to refinish the grips. I was hoping to have a second set of grips.

I had a Dakota years and years ago. As mentioned above, from what I remember, NOTHING interchanged with anything else. Frustrating, to say the least.

Only thing to do is buy a set of 'oversized' grips for a SAA third gen and then take your time and a few evenings in front of the tube watching old westerns while you whittle 'em down to fit. :-\

I dont mind doing some fitting, I just need something to start with.

Get good measurements either off your old grips or the gripstraps themselves and then peruse this page:

Usually you can find something a little bit larger and trim it down. Dave is a good guy to do business with, but you will be waiting while he makes them up, read his disclaimer. once you identify what you want to order, check his Specials page, it may already be there, and cheaper and ready to go.
