Post by: Dakota Dan from OZ on November 21, 2005, 08:15:29 PM: There is a mob of us coming over from downunder to attend EOT 2006, some for the first time the rest have been several times.And I am one of the first timers. Sydney Duck and I are arriving in L/A on the 05/06/06 and on to Salt Lake City picking up a car and travelling out to Cody, we are going to have cowdoy holiday and sightseeing. We will catch up with the rest of them at Durango before the shoot at Cortez and then down to Albuquerque for EOT.
Got my bags packed and at the door waiting for a lilt to the airport.

Hope to catch up with many of you from the US at the shoot.

Myself, Snake (Steve Carter), One Eye (Steve Smith), Gentleman Jack (Harry Torkington) and Yippee (Simon Walker). All members of the same pistol club, Papakura Sporting Pistol Club, and all avid CAS shooters. The same group are those who are thinking seriously about attending EOT in the US.

When the details are finalized at your end could it be possible to send entry forms and such to myself. We need as much as we can get as early as possible as we are applying for grants from the charitable trusts here in NZ to help us pay for the trip. I never realised how much planning is involved in arranging to attend an overseas event. We are at the stage now of sorting out police and customs documentation for the import/export of rifles. We havent even thought much about accomodation, transport, provisions etc yet, but we will get to it during the next 2 months.

I've personally gotten that interested that I have rebuilt an old roling block action back into a shooter. All I am waiting on now is the woodwork to arrive from US. Never shot BP at any real distance yet. Hoping to get a lot of learning in over the next 3 months just so I can at least attempt to hit the targets.

I am assuming it has been your friend Chris that I spoke to via TFS about the shoot origonally. He sent me pics, description and entry forms for last years shoot but unfortunately we need the forms for this years event to present to the people with the monies.

It is a real supprise to me how close a community this CAS game really is. I suppose that is one reason why I really enjoy it so much.

Chris is the same bloke you have spoken to about The Billy Dixon shoot,we live about 1km from one another and are both on the committee of CASS. There is real enthusiasm over here. None of us have shot these rifles over about 300 yards much so it is going to be a real challenge. One that we have been talking about a lot amongst ourselves.

I think we would be happy if just one of us gets 1 hit on the target. We are that unsure of ourselves.

Will fly in through L/A to SLC drive from there to Cody,Casper,Denver,Durango into Cortez for there shoot then into Albuquerque for EOT and home via Tombstone,Yuma, San Diego back into L/A.

She help out at the Founders Ranch Invitational last June and then shot her first match at the Border Dispute that I was mentioning and then school started not to long after that. Then going out, and such became her priority, and she got picky on where she wanted to shoot. She was planning on shooting some this summer before she got the dates on this trip.

I met DD and Sidney Duck this morning as they were shooting stage 6 at EOT. Wonderful pards I promise!

They finished shooting and we started. When we got to stage 2, our third of the day, the wheels came off my wagon and the wagon plunged over the cliff horses and all. I couldn't take down the SG targets, my pistols locked up and then when freed I slip hammered 3 times before I finished the stage. :-[
(Stump you best not laff, it weren't funny.) >:(
In addition to that, I mis-stepped or stepped on a SG hull and wrenched everything on my left side. :'(
DD had showed up with another pard of his (I forget his name for the moment) and watched my POOR performance. :(
It was a sad affair until DD made me the newest member of the GSC and I am proudly wearing my sash now everywhere I go. The poor shooting is forgotten and I can't wait to take myself back out to the range as a representitive of this fine group of DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMEN. ;D

I , too, got to briefly meet DD. A fine gentleman for sure. And TT - I told him what a GOOD boy you'd been. He's a might worried that you've been possessed but is sure the rest of the crew will take good care of you (or care of your booze I'm not sure which).

DD and Longspur shot our 97s yesterday, I had no idea tha pump shotguns were banned down under.

Last night I got to share a beer with DD and some other pards, met lots of great Aussies at the dance/party. Miss Clancy was really beautiful in her dress, real shame that she didn't get to enter the costume contest, her posse didn't finish shooting until after six. She would have won ladies hands down!
Need I say that Trooper was his wonderful self ::) trying to meet all the ladies? ;D

Great time last night, everyone dressed nicely and having a great time.

You folks should have see Buckshot Shell-E!! :o She was/is gorgeous! She and her husband, Mid-Valley Drifter, are both alternates in the shoot-off today as is Tumbleweed Hosey, our own Carolina Daring!

Great stages, great friends (old ones and a bunch of new ones ;D), and just an all round wonderful time. If you ever get the chance to go...DO IT ! ;D

One of the biggest highlights of my first EOT was finally getting to meet Tensleep and his beautiful wife Miss Annie in person. WOW....a finer couple you'd be hard pressed to find ! Drifter and I had a great time having dinner with them QT Kate, Bad Company and Sashay. I bet that restaurant was booooring and quiet once we left. ;) I hope that we see you all again REAL SOON !!

It is good to meet people face to face that I have only spoken to over the web and when you and Miz Annie come downunder you both will be staying with us for as long as you like because Australia is a big country,plenty to see and plenty of cowboy shooting.
