Title: Blackhawk Barrel Torque
Post by: Niederlander on January 21, 2015, 01:43:24 PM
This is a question for someone with the Ruger Kuhnhausen manual.  What degree of offset should a Blackhawk barrel have when it's just hand tight?  The Colts with a ninety degree shoulder are supposed to be hand tight at thirty degrees offset, and I'm assuming the Ruger would be the same, but I thought I'd check.  Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the shop manual.
Maybe you could check with Wes Flowers, or Ron Power.

Kuhnhausen's manual says 30 degrees from firm hand tight if it has a smooth and square barrel and frame surface ()50-60 ft lbs).  Up to 45 degrees if roughly machined with minimum contact area.

Thank you!  Thirty degrees seemed to work perfectly.
