Title: Missouri Muster 19 Oct. 14
Post by: Drydock on September 02, 2014, 05:05:56 PM
In association with the Central Ozark Western Shooters, we invite GAF shooters to the Hanging Tree Shoot Out.  All GAF classes are observed, you will shoot an Urban Combat style match on a police training range.  It is a one day match with 6 stages, plenty of movement and knock downs.  There will be a catered lunch provided.  Safety meeting at 0845, shooting starts at 0900. Scoring is No Miss.  GAF shooters will shoot together on the same Squad.  Bring your GAF DA revolver, there will be a man on man knockdown duel at the end of the day.  See below for further information.

About what time would it get over? I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work for me to attend. It's a 10 hour drive for me and I would have to work the next day.

Do I need to pre-register?

No pre registration. Just sign up the day of the match.

Do you have an approximate round count?

Well, I'm not involved with the stage design, but I'm thinking since it's basically a SAS setup, a good starting point is 10-10-4, but since we don't do shotgun, 10 rounds rifle and pistol per stage X 6 stages, for 60 each. But it's a "no miss" match, so extra will let you make up any misses. Afterward, if you have time to shoot it, there's the "last man standing" side match, for us Military guys it will be handgun only, man on man, 9(I think) knockdowns on each side. so extra pistol ammo would be appropriate, for a few cycles through that, they usually do a double elimination. The original stage design won't need any edged weapons, maybe Drydock may have some ideas for adding something?

No, that bout covers it.  80 rounds rifle and handgun ought to cover the main match, another 30 or so handgun for the Man on Man.  The GAFers shoot the MM first BTW.

It looks as though your range is on the Ft. Leonard Wood Reservation. Is there anything special that I need to do to bring my firearms there?

Right on the edge, but not in it.  Nothing to worry about!  That big green area around the Fort is the Mark Twain National Forest btw.  Here's the range.  https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8024474,-91.9883758,15z

That would be cool if we could go on post and shoot. I wonder if they still use the pop up target range I qualified on? It had automatic pop up targets from 25-300 yards.

Oh, that explains it. I thought the green area was the Ft. Wood reservation.

Had a lot of fun. Great getting to see Drydock and Pony Express again. Got to meet Fingers McGee.

Thanks to Delmonico for getting the sweatband in my hat so that I could wear it this weekend!

Long trip home though. Got home about 1:30 this morning.
