I picked up a very nice condition Remington 1875 and would like to know what ammo it used.
The bore which need slugging is clean and around .451, the cyinder will not take a 44 colt starline sized case but will take a 41 mag case unsized.
It would of used a heeled bullet, I have a .451 heeled bullet mould but this will not fit into the 41 mag case or the cylinder.
I can only think it must of used a .44 dia bullet with a hollow base which was also heeled..
We have shot these with a modified croncal but they were not accurate.
Any one got a photo of the loaded round or bullet.

I thought the original 1875 Remington was sized for a .44-40 Winchester.

Actually, it was the .46 Remington Rim Fire. Can't tell you the dimensions, though. ::)

The fireing pin hits centre.
The slot in the frame is elongated but the hammer has a pin in the centre and has not been altered.
