I just bought my first 1873 rifle in 45lc by Ubertii imported by Taylors from JD Outfitters in OKC. The receiver is just remarkable on the case hardening.

I haven't received it yet. I just sent a copy of my local dealers FFL with check. He took the picture of the rifle he is sending me (which is this one). I'm very fortunate I had 3 guns to choose from. So I picked the best of the 3 due to its awesome receiver. I should be getting the rifle Wednesday so I'll definitely post more pics.

Barrel length? You'll love this piece. I had no idea they were so cool until I fired mine. It's easy to see why everyone who owned one in the old days loved their 1873.
I just noticed your rifle has the lever lock. I wish my 1860 came with one, but it's the case colored frame, so no lock. That's some really nice coloring on that receiver. The wood looks good, too.

Welp, guess what came in today and who is stoked?! DIS GUY! First thing I did what take it out of the box and layed next to it and whispered to it and told her how pretty of a rifle she was (as my wife sat on the couch and witnessed it and thought I was prolly from another planet or in need of a mental evauluation). Anyways, just kidding about all that, but man what an awesome rifle. Uberti outdid themselves with this rifle, and I hadn't even shot it yet! So I worked the action a few times then grabbed my toolbag and the whisper springs, aftermarket mainspring, and safety spring that came in from The Smith Shop (great company by the way) and dis assembled the rifle. It took me awhile as my ADD kicked in just observing the rifle as I took apart each piece. All I can say is quality, and reminding myself this is an 1800's rifle and the enginuity that is involved when taking it apart. Installed the springs polished the inter workings and slapped her back together and worked the action. Wow, slicker than a hot knife through butter! And I couldn't believe how nice the action actually was out of the box. The springs did make a huge difference though. I'm firing it this weekend and I let you gunslingers know how she shoots. Also can a guy mount a tang sight on this rifle? I mean, is the tang tapped for it? Hope you liked the review! Here's the pics!

Yeah I will let you know. I'm taking it to the range this weekend with some 45 colt cowboy loads!
Took the 73 to the range today. I hit the 6" gong several times from 100 yards. Man was it a good time. Such a nice shooting rifle. The 45 colt shot like a 22 through this rifle. Little to no recoil at all!
The sound of a gong at 100 yards, rung by a '73, is one of those joys of life.
I have a question regarding the disassembling of my 73. I can't seem to get the pin to fall out that's located in the lever (that the toggle links ride). Has anyone else had this problem and if so how to you get the pin loose? It's a pain because the only way to get the lever completely out is to remove the stock and the bottom tang assembly. It's just a hassle.
I have never had to take the pin out on originals that I disassemble, but it did take a bit of time to try different angles, etc. to get the lever out without removing the pin. You can do this with originals. I have no experience with moderns.

On most Ubertis it just falls out. Support it on the back side and give it a tap (not a whallop!) with a brass hammer and see if it comes loose. It should not be a terribly tight fit. If it is really stuck do it the hard way and remove the lower tang so you can put the lever on something flat with a hole in it for the pin and hammer it out. After its out polish the pin and/or the lever hole so it just slides in with finger pressure.
I just got my first '73 too, it actually look just like yours. Mine was rather stiff so I disassembled it and polished the links and lightened the main spring and that help a good deal. That pin just fell right out of mine. Did those new springs help yours out much?

That's awesome you got a 73 too! Must post pics dude. What is your caliber? Mine was pretty smooth out of box but to answer your question the springs made a good bit of difference. Also if you haven't done it already take your stock off and remove the screw that holds the main/hammer spring. Then place a 1/4 stainless split washer between the bottom of the tang and mainspring. Then screw everything back together. That made more of a difference along with the spring replacement. But definetly post pics. I never get sick of seeing pictures of everyone's guns. :)

I've seen the washer trick done on them before and was not impressed. All you usually have to do on a 73 or 92 is back off the strain screw for an exceptionable mainspring tension.
