For those who have attended Musters at Fort Hartsuff and Camp Pitspiter, the Commissary Dept has had a faithful servant know to most as The General or as the Rolling Death Trap to our Swiss Militiaman. ;)
Due to some recent illness his time for retirement has came although his final fate is uncertain. This weekend a new member will be joining my staff and due to the brighter uniform he wears, which is not dress white and the fact it is a 4-WD, I have decided in keeping with the theme he will be named The Field Marshal since the color is a fairly bright bluish purple more suitable to someone of that title.
Although 4 years the Jr of The General, it still retains the wind wings in the doors, the dimmer switch on the floor as is proper and the standard 3 pedal control system, the 3rd pedal keeping most modern your hoodlums from being able to abscond with it. Also as an added security device, The Field Marshall will require a key to start it rather than the pliers needed for The General. I should pick it up this weekend since my banker feels it is a companion worthy of a loan. ;D

Congratulations to the General on his well earned retirement!
Here's wishing many years of healthy service to the Field Marshall!
:)

While the General will be missed, it is good to hear that a capable replacement has been recruited.
-
Congrats to the Field Marshall, he has some big tires to fill !
-
So now you own a Rolling Eggplant.
Figures. Congratulations on new recruit, though.
Ran across something for you that I'll give ya at the Muster. Not that you deserve any special consideration.
Does that Rolling Eggplant come with a shade porch, too?

No, John, it sits to low for me to lower the tailgate and sit under it, unless I add bigger springs and tires. Looks like Sunday I take possession of it, my nephew is going to fix a couple minor things for me. Met him in the parking lot at work yestterday afternoon and gave him the money so he can get his next one tomorrow, looked like a drug deal in fact. ;D

When are we gonna see pictures of the Field Marshall? Moose fixed some Cream of Potato soup for supper tonight. The temp got up to almost 70 today.
-
Should pick it up tomorrow, mynephew is fixing a couple minor things.

So, do we give the General a Viking Funeral?

Don't think we could sail it off in a burning ship on the irrigation ditch at Camp Pitspitr. Loupe river seems pretty questionable too. Maybe the lake at Burwell? Lot of dry grass around Sargent every time I've been there, don't want to burn ourselves out.
-
The ditch isn't wide enough & the Loup isn't deep enough. My vote's for Calamus.
-
Being brain dead does not give him value, he may become a donor to keep other old pick-ups alive. ;)

He should become enshrined, mounted on cinderblocks in your front yard.

Great idea! Then you would be qualified to be a genuine, honorary Ozarks Hillbilly! Extra credit if you use it to store stuff, or maybe use it for a chicken house!

Well between the light and digital, it looks more blue but in different lights it's different color anyway, and leans toward purple.
I thought it was a 94 and it's a 95, shows 130,000 on the clock and has been well maintained as far as the mechanics go, a bit of rust though.

Well to late to go back now, it rode off away from the sunset and I have 4 new $100 bills in my wallet. ;D

Farewell, General!(Sound of bugle playing taps)
Did you keep at least one token piece, so we could have a ceremony at the Muster? Perhaps even fire a salute?(Not sure how many gun salute is appropriate, but I expect we'll have enough ammo available)
-
Yes I did, and poor Rowdy watched it go and he cried, it was what he rode home in almost 8 years ago.
-
four new C notes, sounds like the seed money for another firearms acquisition
-
Or maybe a trailer to tow behind the Eggplantmobile, and some more cast iron to fill said trailer.....
-
Or, pop the dent out of the tailgate!
Nah, better to spend it on more skillets and suchlike.
Best regards and keep on truckin!
'Ol Gabe.
