If you own/shoot an original or replica S&W model 3 (Schofield, Russian, American, New Model #3) and want to be rocgonized as a BOSS member, just add a new post on the last page of this topic requesting to become a member, state your name and type of revolver you have and you will be added to the BOSS Membership list.

Reguest permission to come aboard. I just purchased or ordered 2 Uberti Schofields 7" barrel, blue with the walnut grips today. Now the tough part of waiting to get these babys.
Just got the word that I wont be getting my guns until about 90 days! Didnt have them in stock, will have to make them. I this about what you Pards had to wait?
Hi folks,
I had introduced myself a couple days ago, but I'm checking in to join this group.

Thanky Boys for the invite. Its gona be a long 90 days. ::)
I have recently acquired a S & W 44 Double Action First Model.
It has been re-nickled (by a true artist) therefore it is a shooter. I have fired a box of ammo through it and have acquired the .44 Russian dies to reload. It shoots pretty high but at CAS distances I have put five shots in a group the size of a silver dollar.
By next season it may be my main match pistol.
Does this model fall with in the BOSS area of interest? If so sign me up.
Books
I don't think I qualify, I've owned a S&W 1902 DA 2nd model in 32-20 for many years.
It was my Dads, I think he acquired in the 1930's , and I know he had it while on PT's toward the end of WW2.
As a little fellow I remember he allowed me to shoot it .
It was the most powerful handgun, I had ever shot by age 8 ... have only shot 22's.
He had an H&R 9 shot 22 mod. 999 , that was my main shooter with him.
In 1963 my Grandfather passed, and Dad gave the 22 to a Lawyer friend that help him with the estate.
In 1969 or 70, I found a Brand new H&R 999 , I purchased it for my Dad, in return he handed me the S&W DA.
I know it's not Schofield, but it has much history.
Thanks Joss,
I remember a little S&W DA top break in 32 S&W (short) with a 3 1/2" barrel.
My Mother had it as Cashier & Ticket Sales at Regent Theater in Miami.
The theater was owned by my Granddad.
As a side story, a Young DESI ARNAZ/aka Ricky Ricardo used to Sing & dance at the weekly Sat. Evening Stage show with the picture.
He was often accompanied by Al Capone's son.
I lost track of the gun,in the 80's , It was in need of repair as I recall , Broken hand spring & Bolt spring I think.
Hard Rubber Grip were missing a few little chunks too.
Would have made a great little side match pocket pistol.
I just found yer' organization. Interested in joinin'. Mine are a pair of Navy Arms Russians in 44rus, and an H&R 5 shot in 32 S&W short .
Shoot straight, talk straight
Joss...better sign me up. I have been shootin' a pair of Russians since July. ;D
Howdy Sgt. Eli
Welcome aboard Pard. Just signed up a while back also. I havent got to shoot my new Uberti 45's 7 inchers (Blue), cause they havent come in yet! Ordered them in Sept. Said it would be about 90 days before they get in my waiting hands. And I not a very patient man! ;D
I got a vacation day set for Nov 25th. I hope ya guys are shooting then.
I've got a question to go with my request for membership. Can the Navy Arms 44 Russian be smithed up to sliphammer. Never took mine that far apart to look. They shoot real well as they are, but I have a minor dissability (no feeling in portions of both hands), so two handed shooting is a must for safety reasons. Since I gotta' anyway, I wondered if this could be done.
Anyhow, I've got two Navy Arms 44 Russians and an H&R top break pocket pistol in 32 S&W short. The Russians are 44S&W, blued with white ghiraffe bone grips. The H&R is nickeled and basicaly in original configuration.
I'm an NRA member, a S.A.S.S. member #53393, a SCORRS member, a LASSOOS member, and co-founder of the Insane Clown Posse. The latter being an organization dedicated to the principle of having fun above all but saftey in cowboy shooting.

Howdy Sgt.
Nice looking Russians ya got there. Wish we could of shot on the same posse. If permitted, I would have liked to shot those babies. But again it might have made my waiting for mine that much longer! ;D
I know with my luck my Schofields wont be in on time to shot with ya on the 25th. But I'll be there with my Rugers. :)
Welcome aboard Big Jim! Cool looking Russians.
Welcome aboard Blackwater.

Howdy,
I got a refrence to your Forum from the SASS Forum. I just purchased a New (unfired) S&W #3 in .45 Schofield. I believe they are called the Mod.2000 or something like that. It's from the S&W Performance Center with Wood Box, all the paper work, and the Medallion. It is beautiful. I am planning to shoot my first SASS Match here in Austria next month with it. I have found your Forum to be very helpful with loading data and the such. I would enjoy being part of this group.
Many Thanks,
Rick

Cuzzin Jack here. I shoot a S&W .44 Russian DA, a H&R .38 and am working on my S&W spur trigger single action .38. If those qualify me I'd like to join! Top breaks for ever!
Hey, BOSS members,
I wanna be one!!!
I just bought a 3" hideout .45LC Uberti Schofield from Wahoo Kid and a cool little holster from Joachim Slim to replace my Uberti '51 R-M Conversion. Okay, I sold he conversion specifically to get a Schofield. Haven't shot it yet, but I wetmolded the holster to fit it, now just have to dye it black to match my other ones. I carry a .38 Cimarron Lightning in a shoulder holster and a Bond .38 derringer in a suspender holster in my duties as the only detective for the Brazos Riverboat Authority (my own fictional little company that never existed ;D) Other guns are a Marlin 1894 and a Stoeger nickel SxS and an 87 Winch. 12 replica.

Well, I am new here today, but have been lurking for awhile...
Don't know if I have a # or need one yet, but I'm sure one of the BOSS brothers will tell me.
Starting way back, my first handgun was a top-break Model 999 by H&R -- first gun I ever bought, and sold...
Fast-forward 25 years, I got a nice 999 again a few years back, then an old H&R auto-ejecting top-break in 32 S&W Long -- and then I saw the remake of "3:10 to Yuma"................ Knew it was just a matter of time before I got me a Schofield.
That came yesterday -- my own "stimulus" package I guess.
Glad to be part of this group, thanks.

Hi; I'm so new that I squeak .... got all the stuff to begin shooting but the Schofield. I can't seem to find one under $1000 (counting tax and FFL charges). Does anyone have a tight used 7'/.45 LC that they would be interested in selling? Or have a new one that they would like to sell? ???
P.S. This of course is my moniker, but Wadd Watson Ellis was my great grandfather, and fought in the 2nd Alabama Mounted Regiment, moving to Texas after the Civil War and was one of the first Anglos on the Frio River south of San Antonio near where the town of Dilly is today.....
It's ok i'm here
*******************************************************************************************************
Just bought a pair of gently used .45 LC/7 inch Navy Arms/Uberti Schofields ..... I get to pick them up on May 1st! I can hardly wait. Am planning to buy a pair of (one left, one right) cross draw holsters. Am hoping to get Will Ghormley (who made the rig Charley Price used in "3:10 To Yuma") in a plain oiled leather version ....
By the way, his website is:
http://www.willghormley-maker.com/Holsters.html
(By the way, he is selling the original black Charley Price prototype rig if someone is interested ....)
***********Now a question to the group; I was told at a local SASS meet that a crossdraw rig was not what I needed for SASS competition ... that because the weapons must be vertical or pointing downrange, so drawing one makes one turn almost backwards and slows a person down too much to be competitive. I would certainly appreciate your thoughts!***********

Greetings St. George,
I respectfully request membership to your fine establishment. It has long been known that the Smith and Wesson top break firearms have been the tools of the gentlemen from their inception. My current source of armament is an Uberti Schofield that accpets only the finest .44 1873 Winchester cartridges, a Merwin, Hulbert & Co. .32 DA Pocket Model, and a Pietta SAA clone in .45 which currently on the chopping block for a long awaited #3 Russian in .44 Russian, and a short bone-handled knife (hence the name). Just today I have also procured a Forehand & Wadsworth top-break in .32. It appears my goal of not being another Colt packer has finally come to fruition. Admission to your club would truly be a feather in my cap.
(For those of you who don't know me personally, I'm not really a pompous ass, I just like sounding like one. :P)

Howdy all,
I'm Whiskey James, and I just picked up two 5" Navy Arms Schofields in 45LC. They were delivered yesterday and I immediately put 200 rounds through them. They shoot great! I've been shooting Gunfighter for about a year now and these seem just right.

Back when BOSS formed - 'everyone' had badges, so it was brought up on the old 'Frontier Spot'.
Nothing was done - even when there were 'coins' avaliable from Smith & Wesson's Schofield run.
Good Luck!

Not sure I can join BOSS, I currently am shooting a pair of Open Tops, but am starting to look around for Schofields to add to the collection.

Add me to the list, if you will.
I own a (my second in the last 14 months) 7" Cimarron Schofield (.45 Colt) that I picked up new several months back.
Guess I should now sign up, having recently acquired a "semi-correct" Uberti Russian model to go with my North West Mounted Police impression ...
When the Force was first formed in 1873, the latest model Adams military service revolver was ordered from the United Kingdom, but an apparently unscrupulous War Department contractor shipped poorly-packed and obsolete First Model Adams revolvers (converted to metallic cartridge from percussion) many of which were damaged and unserviceable upon arrival. To help fill the gap until the correct Third Model Adams revolvers were received from Britain, the NWMP acquired thirty S&W Russian Model revolvers.

My Uberti, with the NWMP pattern holster I have made for it. (I am working on getting more appropriate wood grips.) -

(Note that I referred to my Uberti as "semi-correct", since it has the too-short ejector housing they put on some of their Russian Models ...)

Hi, Somebody might want to add the rest of the list to the BOSS roster. I'm 230 and the list currently stops at 229.
Obviously not an URGENT problem.
Later
If you're #230, then you're #230.
Can't add unless it's requested, and with C&WAS on the wane, coupled with fewer shooters overall, folks aren't joining as much as they once did when it started.
Vaya,
