Gentlemen,
I'm looking for a reproduction 1841 Mississippi Rifle if anyone has one sitting in the safe. I may a have something to trade if that would work for you. Let me know!
-
I was in Cabela's in Fort Worth over the week end. They have a .58 cal Navy Arms rifle that appears to be an 1841. Brass nose cap barrel bands and patch box for $299. it is in the Gun Library.
-
I will check on that. Thanks!
-
Most likely Kearney would have it brought up so that you could look at it with no committment to buy it.
-
They ship between stores for $25.
-
That may depend on the store...or maybe their policy has changed. I've had a couple shipped between stores and have never been charged. One time I was trying to decide between 2 Krags and they had both shipped in and I bought the one I liked better.

I know the one time I was having something shipped between stores, they charged.
-
I called them and it sounded like it's a Zuave (sp?), so I'm still in the market. Thanks anyway!

Keep an eye on Gunbroker. I've seen a few in the last few months, all under $400 (repro's of course).
-
Yep, that's my plan! (That Plainsman thing sounds like it could be fun, and I've always liked the Mississippi rifle since I first saw one in the Old West Series "The Mexican War"!)
-
Yeah, I picked up a musketoon off Gunbroker last month, figure to go play with the TAPS guys sometime.

Think I have one sitting in the back of the gun safe. Never fired. I'll check tomorrow.

Turns out my Mississippi turned into an 1853 Enfield.
On seeing it I remembered I swapped the one for the other some years ago.
