Title: Where in hell...
Post by: Forty Rod on October 05, 2012, 02:11:02 PM
...can I buy a new "spill proof" shelf for a GE Profile fridge?  Their website is totally worthless, the folks I bought it from are worse than useless, and the repair facility can't / won't help.

Damn it's getting hard to spend my money any more.

Do you have an appliance repair place near by, try them, sometimes a lot easier than dealing with the maker.

You'd sure think so, wouldn't you.  Can't find one within 35 miles.

I was thinking that but it will be at least Tuesday before I can get there, mine remains shelfless because I found out what they want for one and I don't know if the electric icebox that came with the house is worth putting that much money into. :o

As long as they keep Coke, bacon, butter, sausage, eggs, milk, mustard, horse radish, my favorite salad dressing, OJ, marmalade, chocolate syrup, ice cream, mushrooms, corn, and other essentials to life, mental health and spiritual well-being in good shape they will never pass from popularity.

Oh yeah, I may have found a place that has shelves.  Seems they recycle appliances and scrap out the parts.  I'll check them out before I decide to panic of just say "screw it" and make one out of plywood.

Ah My Good FortyRod
there is nothing wrong with some nice 3/8 waterproof ply with a piece of formica glued on top :-)
or you might find an old stainless or vynil coated wire rack that could fit - as I remember the electrified cooling contraptions
origin all came with such nerly indestructable racks before tempered glass became popular.

My Word, it just occurred to me that you could call up a glass place and ask the price of a piece of 1/4" tempered glass of the appropriate dimensions!

and don't forget the noodles!

at least two or three of my drifting braincells must have managed to connect.

If you get the model number of the product or better yet get the part number for the part that you are looking for from the users manual the web site is great.  I recently had to get parts for the drawer for my stove and got them from GE's site.

https://www.geapplianceparts.com/GEApplianceParts/partkeywordsearch

Put in Spill Proof Shelf in the search box unless you have the part number.  40 if you don't have the users manual anymore you can find them online on their web site as well.  I'll be glad to help you out if you need it. :)

Wood burning chainsaw?

Sounds like the beginning of a new chicken-egg discussion.

Del,

That could power the entire country, with some to Canada.

Yeah, but that much BS will really mess with the carbon footprint of the country.
