Howdy!
I just read in the latest issue of "Guns of the Old West", that Uberti was coming out with a "Wild Bunch" 1911 for 2010.
Has anyone else heard this?

It wouldn't surprise me.... but don't hold your breathe till they hit the shelves

Was just looking at the Cimarron 1911A1 pic I see a 1911 type frame, note the flat backstrap and no cuts at the trigger but the 1911A1 short trigger. Grip safety is a bit long I think, appears there is a lanyard loop and of course the gun is turned so we cannot see the controls. I would guess that this is a Uberti gun. Hard to tell if it is meant to be a period specific gun or just another 1911, but it is labeled a 1911A1 in spite of the frame. I would love to find a good 1911 copy make it to the market.

Have you seen the one from EMF, built by a smith in Tn. One of our members bought one and it is really nice :), although I'm not sure what makes one truly period.

The Cimarron 1911 is made by Armscor , same folks who make the Rock Island Armory gun.

Yo PUK,
Now I reckon if they told us we could have cartridge pistols again in the UK and this was the only 45ACP available, me and you would be first in the queue !!!!!!
Now if we had a choice, well now let me think .........

PUK...if you read the ad it says not available in California (no surprize there) then read on is says their out of stock. Makes me wonder how available are they. Or are they fishing with some shiny new bait
At 400 bucks there's room to throw colt parts in it. Not sure how i feel about the Turkey thing, I've got guns made in brazil-russia - china-italy-spain...I could not find a blued Phillipine made 1911 plenty of stainless around here. It's kind of like buying a Ford got a US name but where the hell are they really made.

If I could of found one around here I would have bought it. Ended up with a Springfield Mil Spec. Abilene that's a nice looking piece

If you want a nice, made in the USA and reasonably priced 1911, look at the Kahr/Auto Ordnance. Tight, nice markings, and reliable. :P Do not confuse these Kahr A/O with the old Numrich A/O guns. Completely redesigned and retooled. They are about $100 more than the RIA's and about $125-$150 less than the Remington.
I handled a Remington the other day, and it is O.K., but IMHO not worth the extra $$$$ over a Rock or the A/O (not trying to step on anybody's toes). If I'm going to shell out $650 for the Remmie, I will save a little more $$$ and wait for a Colt. ;)
I have no info on an Uberti 1911. Bet it will be expensive.
