The Colt Series knives has a model similar to that. The blade profile is more of a bowie/clip point and made from damascus. The sheath is a nice oil tanned leather with laced edge. Looks very PC. Our club gave one to Lethal Larry as our 2009 Cowboy of the Year Award.

Another place to get nice looking PC cutlery is Bark River Knives. I own a few. They are very well made. Their "Mountain Man" series and many of their Bowies look really nice. Here's a listing of several:

Rowdy: I understand the concept of coveting when it comes to large knives. The above look like great options, particularly the Colt series mentioned by Pancho.
However, if you still fail to find what you want there are plenty of custom makers who will hand forge a knife for you. Many outstanding smith's such as Joe Delaronde will quote you months on end before yours arrives, but I have found one, Tim Ridge, who can get the work out rather quickly - say 90 days as was my case. And he does quality work. You can find him at:

Here's one of my favorites: It's a moutain man dagger from Bark River with ivory colored micarta scales. Ten Wolves made me a nice scabbard for it to match the scabbard he made for my lemon squeezer:

when I saw the post you put up with a knife from Tim Ridge, I was overcome. Nothing I could do but bring up his website and order that English Style Bowie. It is on it's way to me as I make this post. Thanks for the tip. You can tell him that you got him some business with your recommendation.

If you all are ever in the Smokey Mtn. be sure to stop and visit the Smokey Mtn. Knives it is just outside of Sevierville, TN Really a must when you are in that area. I doubt if you can get out without buying something though. Tj

Here's a Bowie I put together for myself...bought the blade direct from the factory in Sheffield. It's a little over 8" in the blade, hand-forged, and very sharp. I put the nickel silver guard and stag handles on it.

Boy, Howdy! The knife from Tim arrived today. I would have to rate it a 10+. The picture does not do it justice. Thanks again, James. The style and materials are true to the time frame we desire to replicate. I can say that I would recommend Tim's work with no reservations.

Rowdy – Below I pictured a very decent repro of a clip-point knife with stag slab handles. It is made by Hanwei Forge (also interchangeably called CAS Iberia and Paul Chen as the maker). This knife is one of eight offered in the ‘Historic Bowies Collection’, a series of dead-ringer repros of original Victorian era side knives. These were fairly readily available a few years ago but are discontinued now. Still may be able to get one through e-bay. Price when new hovered around $225 each though I’ve seen them go for as low as under $100 new in the box. Besides being an excellent quality item the sheath on this particular knife from the series is similar in design to the original posted by Shotgun Steve.
Only warning I have is the brass scabbard parts are held on with glue (an unfortunate oversight on a knife & scabbard that is otherwise superb). Also need a minor defarb effort to polish out the etched modern maker’s name on the base of the blade.

French Jack: I am very glad that worked out for you, always happy to enable someone else's lack of financial responsibility when it comes to period weapons. Tim is a well known maker in colonial circles, less so in later time frames although he personally was into CW period at one time. He often has knives representative of our era for sale and can duplicate about any hand forged type design you are interested in.
MJB: I can attest to the quality of Brass' knife, it is well worth the price particularly at the reduced rate now offered. Not a cheap knock off, it is really a quality piece of work representative of the type. You would not be disappointed.

I also like the spear tipped blades over the more prevalent clipped point.
I could not find what I was looking for so I had to make my own. 7 1/4 blade length by 1 1/4 wide by 1/4 thick. False upper edge has more taper than that pictured.
Good luck finding a spear tipped Blade.

I too have seen the Russell knives. They are very nice and the right styling but out of my league. The ones I saw were starting at $125
I guess I should have added in my original post that I am cheap or is that poor.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but Jim Hunt's link to Tim Ridge's hand forged knives has left an empty spot in my knife collection. I also got to handle French Jack's knife last year. Tim's knives really have no comparison to the production period knives I own.
After watching Tim's web site over the past year, I finally found a blade I could not live without: a replica of a McElroy Confederate fighting knife.

I picked this one up off eBUY a couple of years ago...sheath was crappy but is a nice knife. Even says it is an "Original Bowie Knife" right on the blade.
