A friend who lives down near this (in the same area I used to live) told me he's going to get to go visit the Jaques Littleton (Private) Military Collection this weekend.
He sent me this link as a teaser...

I'm ENVIOUS! :o
-
They did a story on that German tank restoration on the Military Channel several month's ago.
-
The only other M-56 Scorpion SP gun I ever saw was at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Strange design with NO crew protection at all.

The gerry half tracks weren't much better.
-
That is a rather extensive military vehicle collection. I have been to the Patton Museum at Fort Knox and they have an impressive collection of tracked military vehicles.
-
Some of your photos are from the same place the History Ch. had their cameras!
Must be nice to have loads of cash, eh?!!
Thanks for sharing!

All my pictures from the Patton Museum are lost, still hoping to unearth them.

If I go back, I'll make sure to send you digital copies. I used to spend a lot of my lunch-times there when I was stationed at Ft. Knox. It's been many moons since I was inside. (I was outside last summer, but didn't have time for a proper visit.) The last few times I was there I was distressed to see rust :o on Gen. Patton's pistols. (Engraved & silver plated SAA & ivory grips and an early S&W 357, blued, w/ ivory grips.) Not a LOT of rust, but ... >:(

I'm sure he'd be mad as heck about that. He'd even get PO'd when someone would mistake the grips for pearl.
-
Fort Sill has a large outdoor vehicle display at their Museum. They have a beautiful brass Gatling gun inside the Museum there.

Quite right! He weren't no New Orleans pimp! (Just one of MANY things I admire about him! I don't much care for Mo-of-Pearl, myself - 'cept in a few instances. I'll take ivory ANY time!)
;)
-
He sure was one of a kind. I've read more about him in books than what was in the movie. His childhood and the way he chose to live it was somethin else. It's almost like he was gearing up for war years bafore it happened.
-
Yep! Good or bad ... war was his life.
And there are times when his type is desperately needed; in spite of what the namby-pamby feel-good types think & say!
-
I couldn't agree more. When the hammer needed to come down, there he was. I can count a few countries that would be different today if it weren't for him. I can think of another country that would be very different today if he had been listened to.

Amen!

I think George C Scott did a good job in his role of Patton. I have visited with a couple of WW2 vets that served under him. They both agreed that he was a great leader and was relentless.
-
A local collector here in Spokane has Hitlers Mercedes Benz car he used in parades and personal use along with some others.
Saw him on the news the other day, were tawking millions fer a car?
No thanks, I'll keep my oil wells.
George had to portray G.Patton, with a name like George? Scott did a fine job in that moovie.

Several years ago I was on an extradition trip to Las Vegas. I stayed at the Imperial Palace downtown. At that time they had an auto museum in the area that was part of their parking garage. I don't remember much about the contents of the museum. I think they had one of Hitler's car's too.

There were several Dusenbergs there and one vehicle I would have loved to own. It was a red 59 El Camino with a tri-power 348 and 4 speed.

Was that 1859? Surely it was pre 1900 or you wouldn't want it so much!
???
;)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Good ta see ya Jeff! Hope yer doin just fine.
-
He's doing a lot better. I talked to him over the phone yesterday. Yep, that 348 didn't come out till 1902.
-
Good ta see ya Jeff! Hope yer doin just fine.
Thanks, L.T.
Everything considered, I'm not doing too bad.
-
welcome back Jeffie
-
Good to see you on, SHB......... 8)
-
Jeff said that Chico is glad to have him home. Chico likes to lay in Jeff's lap.
-
Glad to see you back Jeff!
-
Jeff is getting his staples out today. I hope it don't hurt too bad.
-
From my experience it don't, just feel them tugging on ya. They used those when they took out my appendix instead of sutures.
-
I'm just glad that it ain't me that's got them staples. I don't like to be cut on.
-
Howdy, friends.
As for the staples, I was worried for no good reason. "Much ado about nothing."
I took a shower right before leaving for the hospital appt. for staple removal, and kept the area moist, so the area was soft and out they came with no feeling other than the slight tugging that Leo mentioned.
welcome back Jeffie
Good to see you on, SHB......... 8)
Glad to see you back Jeff!
Thankee, sirs! Howdy to you all and Montana Darlin'.
-
Glad to know that the staple removal went well for ya!
-
Them things beat the heck out of stitches. Glad it went well.
-
It sounds like SHB is definitely on the mend, and that's a good thing!

Ive. never had problems with stiches, maybe because I know how to pull them myself if the Dr's office waits too long. Both knee replacements required staples and both times the nurses caused pain removing them, the secong time one ripped the skin and I had to bandage it back up for a few days to stop the bleeding.

That's what I was worried about happening to me. Didn't happen. (I guess I dodged a bullet on THAT one!)
Like you, Tom, I have removed most of the stitches I ever had - about 100-110. Now that I have the proper tool, if I need to I can now remove staples the right way ... instead of using the needle-nosed pliers l had to use on 3 staples before I went to have them removed. Those 3 had worked out one side and I didn't fancy getting them caught on my towel after a shower, or on/in my T-shirt while watching the new-fangled electric picture-viewer.
-
I've never had any of the staples yet, but There have been many stitches.
-
TOO many!
-
Just remember that the pain reminds you yer alive. ;)
-
Leo, I am reminded every day, even more so since October.
-
I am too, TLD. Arther ain't no respecter of a person's history and occupation.......Buck :-\
-
He don't visit me at all, just muscle spasms in my back.
-
You are one lucky dude. Me an Aurther are good buddies an I'm only 38.
-
Hang in there Leo!
-
Hang in there Leo!
Yes, indeed!
-
Remember Leo, The Advil Blue Gel Caps are your friends!
-
That's my problem, I don't take pills. Lil has high test Motrin layin around for her back and I always refuse them. After a car wreck, 10 years of layin carpet an verious other shenanigans I just live with it. Only bugs me when it's cold and wet out.
-
Leo, Wait another 30 years, you might have to change your mind.
-
I'm sure I will if I make it that far. Those verious other shenannigans took a toll. If I see 68 I'll be one blessed man.
-
Leo, By the time you get to 68, I'll be long GONE!
-

No, you'll be here under the handle "Methusila Lawdog". I have no doubt.
-
Let's hope you're right about that.
