Anything that could be put between two pieces of bread, especially lard.
Slim
My oh my, Slim. I haven't had a good ole lardwich in years.
My stepsisters used to eat butter and sugar sandwiches. :o
I'll stick to peanut butter and mayonnaise, thank you.
Ahhhh... Peanut butter, mayo 'n turkey feathers on toasted white bread. Takes me back to the college days.

I had a friend that was his favorite, he made me some when I was over at his house, but never developed a taste for it,
just give me some tomatoes and mustard and some bread. summer time favorite. or in the winter grape jelly sandwich, in my teenage years a triple decker.

You're truly disturbed. NO ONE eats white bread!
White bread is fine if it's homemade, but then who's eat that stuff from that you buy in the store anyway. Who ever first said, "The greastest thing since pre-sliced bread was a durned fool." ;) BTW pre-sliced bread dates to the 1930's and is not period correct for any reason. ;D

I know that white bread ain't good for you, but, in almost every southern BBQ joint they gonna give ya at least 2 slices of white bread for sopping up the left overs. and sause ;D
OK, I'll concede to un-sliced, whole loaf, home-made, French or Italian.

Uberti or Pietta?
French and Italian are really the same, leave out the shortening and sugar. ;D
Guess you don't want none of mine with the lard and brown sugar in it. ::)

i eat pre-sliced white bread.I dont eat home made food. I like foods i can count the calories. I eat 2150 callorie everday unless i make a mistake in my counting. I like to keep my self skinny i wear size 30 Old West pants. And if i wear modern pants i wear a 28 waist. So i must eat things i can count the callories with.I think i might try peanut butter and mayanaise on white bread some time that sounds good.

Did you want pie with yer bread Cammie?
My uncle used to tell me... "The whiter the bread, the sooner dead." ::)
He's still around though... so maybe...
White bread don't worry me, it's the chemicals they put in the boughten stuff. Take some of that junk from the store and some homemade stuff sometine and put it in the cuboard and watch how quick the homemade molds and how long the boughten stuff takes. About 4 days for the homemade and about two weeks or more for the other stuff, does that tell you anything?
BTW modern white flour has all the vitamans that whole wheat does and stone ground is no heathier for you unless you have problems pooping. ;)
Del I don't care nothing about the pie but home made bread ... :o
Hey micah 2150 calories a day is a lot to stay so skinny. How tall are ya?
im not sure how tall i am all i no is i stay skinny.
Well have some more Cammie.

My wheat white and rye dinner rolls. ;D
Some white bread.

The Swedish Rye right out of the oven.
And some Czech Rye.
Notice the shiny look from the melted butter I spread across them to soften the crust a bit. ;D
Whole wheat and left over dutch oven roast fer supper, stop by Cammie there should be enough for both of us, you can count, I'll just make sure I work hard enough to burn them off. ;)
Dag Nab IT!

I think the cheese Del used in his sandwich is Uberti. I personally prefer provolone.

Now this is a photo! ;D
15 1/2 inch Lodge skillet, I make one every food day at work. Can custom make them to suit the group. Make some for folks at work around the holidays. My price, 1 silk neck rag. ;D Enough bread to be 6 loaves if made that way. A hit at any pot luck I go to. ;D
Quote from: Delmonico on April 20, 2007, 05:05:18 PMA hit at any pot luck I go to. ;D
I think anything you make would be. ;)
Yeah, but the bread is the all time favorite, pot lucks or out of the dutch ovens in camp. Have seen folks turn down nice desserts and main dishes to fill up on bread "as good as Grandma made." ;D
BTW I know the secret to makin' bread "just like Grandma made." My brother went nuts the first time he tried it, thought I dug up her recipe, heck, she never used a recipe, I just know the secret, bet ya can't guess what it is? ;D

A few years ago, I could have asked my dad. He made the bread in his family when he was young. I'd have to venture a guess that it has to do with the kneading. How'd I do?
Nope, I use the water out of the well at the farm. ;D We carry drinking water because the nitrates are a bit higher than needs be. When I learned enough of the science of cooking to understand I tried it. Got tried of litle brother telling me my bread was very good, but didn't taste exactly like grandma's. ;D
That rye sure looks good.
Slim
Which one? ;D

So I have to go hunt you down to make bread right? Wow, talk about having the market sewn up. ;D
Actually, I can identify with that. The property where I was born and raised had phenominal well water. My cousin now lives there, I could go collar a few gallons and see how it works out. Good tip.
Would taste just like yer momma's bread if you did it right. ;) Water does make a differance in many items.
I can make about a dozen different kinds, double that if you include the sour dough version. ;D
I tend ta stay away from sour dough.
Slim
The stuff can be dangerous, almost destroyed the Newbrassky State Fair grounds back in 1999. ;D
Back to sandwiches!
I very seldom eat bread! For sandwiches, I like white from the store. What I grew up with and it tastes right. ;) My most favourite is my meatloaf with Durkee's Famous Sauce on toast!! ;D ;D MMMMMMMMM, sooooo good!! :o ;D
My second most favourite is SWEET [Vidalia or Bermuda] onion with mayonnaise, a little salt & pepper on un-toasted white bread. My local grocery store has a decent bakery and I get a baguette or loaf of Italian bread every 3 or 4 months. The loaf of regular white bread in the freezer has been there 3 month and is about 1/2 done.
When I get flour, it will be in cookies [chocolate chip] or brownies. Have chips & salsa at the restaurant where Tango is most Wednesdays. This last week I got a large pizza [sausage & mushroom] and got 4 meals out of it. With the coupon it came to about $2.02 per meal. I don't splurge like that too often.
yesturday i ate a peanut butter and miracle whip sandwitch with pepperjack cheese on it.I ate it on a kaiser roll. i mostley just tasted the peanut butter.I could taste the miracle whip a few times and the pepper jack cheese a few times.I could not taste it very well because a few years ago i had cancer in my face. They cut out part of my tongue and put a metal jaw on one side of my face.So when they cut part my tongue they got some of my taste buds. :P
