do you completely tear down and clean your...
pistols?
rifles?
shotgun?
-
Shotgun, every 2 or 3 months.
Rifle and pistols, at least once a month.
Doc
-
Pistols... once in two years.
Rifles... every 4-5 matches.
Shotguns... never
-
Everythang gets tore down, cleaned, oiled, and reassembled once per year.
After every match the pistols get a hot water bath, baked at 250 fer an hour, oiled, 'n' put away. Scattergun (SxS) gets the barrels soaked in the tub. Rifle gets a patch down 'er bore, a bit of cleaner in the action, and oiled.
If'n I'd knowed cleanin up from Blackpowder waz so easy, I'd'a never messed 'round with that danged "smokeless" stuff!

Pistols -- at least once every year
Rilfe -- at least once every six months or so (by the way, it's due)
Shotgun -- twice in the fifteen years I've had it.
-
Pistols every 3 months
Rifle every 6 months, so hard to get back together
Shotgun?
All of my weapons get scrubed and cleaned after every shoot.
I start taking the screws out and cleaning the inside of the action as described.
My shotgun is always broken down and cleaned after each shoot but have yet to take the butt stock off and clean the hammers and such.
-
Pistols & Rifles a couple times a year( I like to tweak them every so often, see if I can make them better)
Shotgun, Once a year whether it needs it or not.
-
The rifle's been torn all the way down once, by my gunsmith, Old Lone$um at Walker '47. Since then, I've started using the aerosol Gunscrubber on all four pieces. I know I oughta do it right after the monthly match, but it usually ends up being a day or two before the next monthly match. :o I also use the Remington aerosol lubricant. ;D
-
... once a year for all of em, if I remember ;D
-
I clean them when they quit working or I just can't stand it. ;)
Recently I broke down and cleaned an 1894C after at least 2 years and thousands of rounds. It still worked, but the gunk was just awful.

I never completely dismantle them for cleaning. :o I do, however, take them apart to tweak or fiddle with something inside. They get a thorough cleaning then. Normally, it's cylinder out, clean & oil anything I can on the pistols. Shotgun, forestock & barrels off. Rifle, whatever I can get to by working the action.
-
I used to clean them everytime I used them. Now, it's only twice a year. ;)
-
Hey Sisquoc,
That avatar picture.... what tribe are ya?
Last of tha Moe-chickens? :P
-
As rarely as possible (within the bounds of functionality). I'm a lazy slacker.
-
Pistols - Never. I take out the cylinder, wash and wipe, apply Ballistol, and back together after every match.
Shotgun - Never. Just clean out the barrels and wipe everything down. Then apply Ballistol and I'm done.
Rifle - Completely about every 3rd match with any particular rifle. Barrel and visible action parts after every match. (I'm hoping a recent switch to .454 bullets will stop the infamous .45 Colt blow back and keep the rifle action cleaner.)

I usually tear them down once, a year. I clean them, when they need it. Guess, I'm not out shooting enough. ;)
