Title: You Know My Name
Post by: Frank Dalton on July 04, 2006, 12:49:13 PM
This movie is set in Oklahoma, and stars Sam Elliott as Bill Tilghman, in his later years. Although based in the 1920's/early 30's, this movie still qualifies as a western to me.

"In six months, the population of Cromwell, Oklahoma, has climbed from 500 to 10,000. Boom times have come to the oil-rich town. So has a new breed of criminal.
You Know My Name is the fact-based story of Bill Tilghman, a lawman and ex-partner of Wyatt Earp confronting a new era when outlaws run whiskey instead of cattle and may as likely tote a tommygun as carry a six-gun."

I found the movie very entertaining, and like many a wertern movie in the past, there is an epic struggle between good and evil that has the townspeople having to decide which direction they want to go. Mr. Elliott plays his role well, and the supporting cast are likewise excellent.

I can heartily recommend this movie.
