Finally made it to the Range with the Webley and Army Service
« on: October 09, 2019, 09:32:59 PM »
It would really help if I had cleaned my glasses so I had a prayer of seeing the front sights.  Was shooting 130 grain FMJ out of the Colt it shot more or less where I pointed it  The webley with 146 grain ammo is quite problematic about a foot low at 25 yards and almost as bad at 10 yards.  THe only real success I had on the day was with the CZ 27 I inherited from my sister's step son.  Last time I was up in Montana my sister gave it to me it shot 5 rounds in 3 inches at 10 yards about 2 inches right of point of aim.  I shot much better groups with the Colt Single action than I did with the Webley and lets just say I need a lot of DA work with both revolvers.

I seriously need to get some 200 grainers for the 38 S&W to have a prayer at getting the piece to shoot to point of aim.  Semi wad cutters for the Colt would be nice as well.  Actually like the ergonoics of the Webley and the DA trigger is better than the Colt.

Yes, that heavier bullet should raise the point of impact.

(Always seems counterintuitive ...  :-\  ... but, of course, that's how it works.)

something like stays in the barrel longer allowing the pistol to recoil a bit more than a faster lighter load as I recall

Yes ... referred to as ?barrel time? or ?bore time?, as I recall.
