the Great Buffalo hunt
« on: July 24, 2019, 01:36:08 PM »
The annual buffalo hunt will be held Sept. 26-28 S. E. of Lebo KS.
Last year I loaded 1000 lb+ to the range set them out Picked them up and hauled them home when the shoot was finished.
Besides myself, One other shooter showed up. Needless to say that will not happen again. This year entries must be submitted by Sept 18. shoot fee is $25 in advance, Or $35 at the gate. If there are not at least 10 prepaid entries by Sept. 18 it will be cancelled and paid entries returned. If you have never been, we shoot 30 rounds for score at 60 lb Buffalo targets at various unknown distances. They must be knocked down to count. There is also a .22 shoot at very small steel buffs. (optional) $5 entry. There will be a chuck wagon to serve food on sight for separate cost. Camping on site, or motel 10-12 Mi. distant. More details to follow, but I figured I better get this out in case you plan on coming. Send payment to John Torrence , 2723 Emmer rd , Lebo KS. 66856. before Sept. 18.  Watch this site for more details to follow. Or call 620 256 5866 with ??s

Hay guys if you have ever put your rifle on cross sticks and looked across open range at Buffalo, even steel targets of buffalo, it is stimulating.  I am planning on being there even if I have to use crutches as my shooting sticks.  May have to.

Trap, unfortunately with Pam's situation I can't commit to anything. But
as Wooly Dan said, shooting buffs is a lot of fun, the boom of the blackpowder'
the clang of the steel, it's addicting. This is NCOWS, you should be able to get
over 10 shooters. I get 20-30 here at a SASS club. I still have the score sheet
from the first time I won at Ackley, 62 shooters, yes 62!!! so come on guys
lets make this organization GO!

Assuming Dan is up and mobile, I plan on being there and borrowing Dan's Buffalo gun.  I will give you $ at the KVC Gambler shoot

Will post directions from south and motel info in separate post.   jt

Directions from south; North on 75 through Burlington (be careful, the only 2 stoplights in the county). In just a few miles, through the small town of New Strawn. At the north end of town, just past the water tower, turn Left (west) I think 19th rd. stay on the blacktop. It will make a 90 degree turn to the north, and then a 90 back west. Once you have gone about 5 miles after turning off 75 look for homestead rd. going north. Turn north (right) 1/2 mile to the gate.

A little more info.  The main match will be a blanket shoot. So if you are planning to come start looking for a prize that you don't use as much as you thought you would. There are still to few to even pay for the outhouse. If you want it to happen you don't have much time left to send in your payment.    jt
