GAF Web Site under new management
« on: September 22, 2006, 08:00:51 PM »
Recently I  received permission to assume the duties of the GAF webmaster. The first thing I want to do is thank David L. Velleux and several others for all the effort they have put forth in developing the web site we have. It must have been a sizable undertaking and required a significant background in web page design and development.

I have begun implementing some minor and some major changes. In discussions with Gen US Scout it was agreed to combine the Roster and Departments menu items and assign them to the Roster button. This was done to create room in the menu for a new item DISPATCHES. The Dispatches page will be used for announcements and other GAF pertinent items and Gen US Scout will have the final word on what belongs on this page.

Currently Gen Scout is preparing updates to the roster and I will apply them as soon as he releases them to me.

Please advise me of any web site errors or ommissions that are noticed. Suggestions and comments are welcome and controversies will be deferred to Gen US Scout for resolution.

Your humble servant,

Hedley,

Once Col Bull Schmidt gives the word, you can submit recommendations for the Stars of Merit on the website as before.  The recommendations will come straight to me for approval, and then I'll have it posted on the website.  I'll probably create a "sticky" for awards, as we have done for the Roster, here at the Barracks and make a general announcement as well.

To Hedley and all,

I believe you can use the web pages for posting awards, enlistments, and feedback.  :P All such postings will go to Gen US Scout for further handling.

Outstanding!
The GAF website is our public gateway and the hard work put into creating it deserves to be carried forward.

Because of numerous changes to the GAF web site you may encounter missing graphics etc.. Old versions of some of the pages may be in your browser's cache on your computer. Please do a reload/refresh of the page with your browser and that should update your cache and clear the problem. If you continue to have problems please let me know.

It looks good and the changes match to what will be in the flyer that I haven't forgotten IOU Col. Bull.

I've been making a pattern for the GAF Guidon and fooling around with some scraps of material to figure out how it was done to make directions.  I'll ship it back shortly.

Excuse Dept: I've been obsessed with getting the new house built.  It's another job, even with a general contractor.  I will never do it again.

Congratulations, Colonel!  Hope we will soon be able to sign up new members again on line.  This has been much missed.  Will you be updating the Departmental rosters any time soon - They do not reflect the organizational changes which have occurred in the past year?  Many thanks, Sagebrush Burns, Dept of the Platte

Bvt Col Schmitt

Thank you and others for taking over the web site.

Also thank you for your help on the Color Guard at Mulecamp this past spring. It was a start.

Maybe we can get more done on the "East Coast" this  and next year.

Best,

Capt. Lou Graham,

Whenever you get the flier finished let me know and we will make it available via the GAF web site. If you can figure out how the guidon was made and can write up instructions we can provide those as well so others can make guidons for their local use. Good luck with building a new house. That is a MAJOR undertaking.

Bosun Pete,

Many thanks for the offer of use of your server. Our current arrangement seems to be working okay. If in the future we need a new home we will be sure to contact you and see if you can accomodate us.

Sagebrush Burns,

New members can signup through the web site. The info is automatically sent to Gen US Scout for further processing. As soon as Gen Scout forwards the updated rosters they will be posted on the web site.

Cannon Fodder,

Thank you for your efforts with Mule Camp. We will try to be more effective throughout the Department of the Atlantic in 2007.
