Title: Steel Ejector Housing
Post by: Niederlander on December 03, 2019, 03:49:05 PM
Am I to assume Ruger no longer offers the steel ejector housing through any parts houses?

I admit to having the memory of a Gnat.  Small, flighty Gnat.  Ergo, I don't remember Ruger ever offering a Steel Ejector Housing.  I do remember Steel (Blue and Stainless) being offered by the Cottage After-Market. I think.  Sort of.  Maybe.  Brownells.

My Good Niederlaner

I don't know if it's steel or aluminum, but you can try this and ask the seller

I remembered that I had a take off ss housing from my 2.5 in sheriffs model build so I switched them out. Now I?ve got to blue it or paint it. [At least it?s not [aluminum]. If I heated it with a propane torch would it darken?

Oh for Pete's Sake Biltmore!!!   :o   No, it won't darken much if at all but you may well warp it or even melt a spot or two.  Is there something wrong with a shiny Ejector Housing??  Might be some neat contrast.  I'd like it   ;D

Sorry to confuse, I was wondering about darkening the s/s housing. So you?re saying that I should swap cylinders and build a pinto Ruger? How about 2 pintos? A testament to Rugers QC they swapped and work perfectly.

My Dear Ed -

To quote Buckaroo Bonzaii:
That's No to 1 and Yes to 2

Soooo.... the only safe and sane way to change the color of your stainless ejector housing would be one of the amazing new
paint products like the bake-on gun coatings.

but instead, your pair of pintos is actually stylish and fashionable! I like them! especially the little shortbarrel birdhead...

My Dear Deacon -
yessir, "pinto-ing" is the term. Or two-tone.
In fact, the style was established with the Colt Walker, blued barrel, case frame, and "in the white" cylinder.

quite stylish!
