Returning to the "Muster photos" aspect of this thread, here are a number of images from the Sunday shooting -

Although the thermometer purported to tell us that it was actually warmer than the previous day, lack of sunshine and the fairly strong wind made the conditions much less enjoyable -

The following two shots happen to capture the First, Second and Third Place winners in the "Milspec Single Shot, Black Powder" battle rifle category ....
 ;D

Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885
Bvt. Col, Commanding International Dept. and Div.  of Canada, Grand Army of the Frontier

As Tony the Tiger would say, The GAF National Muster was GRRRRRRRRREAT! ;D ;D ;D ;D

A great big WELL DONE to Col. Pitsptr.

Great camaraderie.
Great food, Del you outdid yourself as usual.
GREAT SHOOTING, some very interesting stages. Well done to all the stage writers.
Great prizes. The next prize committee are going to have their hands full topping this years committee. I'm sure the Texans will rise to the task.

I had a GREAT time and learned a lot, as I have only been shooting this type of shooting for a couple of years. to my brother Capt. Little, Col. Diamond, Sgt. Drydock and any others  for all their tips and encouragement. A GREAT BIG THANKS.

I would like to congratulate all the award winners.

Sgt. Drydock on his Brigade Champion Award, well deserved.

I think we need an award for best looking legs, my, my what a sight Rattlesnake Jack. ;D ;D ;D ;D

THANKS TO ALL

May you all ride a good horse.

I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the 09 Muster, it was almost as go as being there. I missed not getting to sleep in the Barracks this year. I'm glad the weather didn't dampen the spirits of the participants this year.

Col. Robson
I'm sure glad you got a photo of "Water Carrier Ravine". I'm kind of proud of that stage. It's one you won't see every day in the CAS world.

For those who weren't here, all of the stages were based on MoH or Victoria Cross engagements. This particular stage was written in memory of Blacksmith Henry Mechlin's MoH action at Water Carrier Ravine on the Little Bighorn. The 10 "shoot" targets were to be engaged nearest to furthest and then back to the nearest with care taken to not hit the 2 water carriers (the 2 blue targets)

Col Pitspitr:

Actually, all the Sunday shooting photos were taken by Roger ......  Unfortunately, he (or his camera) did not perform well in cold and/or low-light conditions.  The shooting images I posted were about all I could salvage from the total number of photos he has given me  - almost all of which were very dark, or blurred ... or both.  (Apparently, there were many others that were totally hopeless, which he didn't even bother to copy to the disc he gave me.)  As it was, I had to work quite extensively with the ones I posted to brighten and/or sharpen them up.

(I think the problem is Roger and not his camera, frankly - even when he uses my camera the shot is usually messed up ....   :-\ )

In that vein, below is the only image he got of me on Saturday evening.   That is the best I can make it look .....  Did anyone get a good full-length shot of me in my re-vamped Highland dress uniform, by any chance?  (As I mentioned in earlier postings, it has been changed to the 5th Royal Scots of Canada, from the British Black Watch regiment of the same era, with different patterns of sporran, stockings, gold lace, etc. .... and by extensive re-badging  ......

FWIW, I'm also attaching a rather poor shot (cropped from a much larger picture) of my new Pattern 1881 helmet plate, configured for the 5th Royal Scots of Canada -
Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885

Here are some photos from the Saturday banquet.  (For some reason, today I can't get a post to load here with links to photos in my PhotoBucket account, so I am reverting to the option of uploading them here, though the size-limit per message will undoubtedly require several postings

The only other photo of Roger's which turned out is attached to this message, followed by others I got -
Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885

Photobucket sized to 640X480 works the best, they have to be under 100k to attach.  If you E-mail them I'd be glad to use my photobucket account and post them for you.

Actually, for attaching photos directly to a message here, the limits are:

- maximum size of 150 KB per image

- maximum of four images per message

- total of all attachments cannot exceed 350 KB per message

You need to determine the file size of the images you are trying to attach. If you are trying to use them as they came off the camera, they are undoubtedly much too large.  In fact, high-resolution digital photos can be several megabytes in size - i.e. potentially hundreds of times too large for posting on this forum.  However, you can save smaller versions  - for example, mine on this thread are a maximum of 750 pixels wide - at much lower resolution (no more than 150 or so is necessary for computer display) and attach those to your messages.

(You don't necessarily want to erase your original high-resolution image files, however - if you want to make prints .... especially of a detail cropped from the full-size image ..... you need all the original data for best quality.)

Any recommendations for a photo resizer(preferably a free one) for my vista laptop? I use the powertoys one on my desk top pc, but it's running XP. I tried to use the "powertoys image resizer clone for vista" but for some reason my computer can't open the install file.

For me, it's better to have the smaller thumbnail size pics, than post the full size ones. I can't vew most of them if there's lots of big pics. Living in the country has lots of advantages, but super slow dial up isn't one of them!

You can resize by making a copy, opening it in paint go to "image" then attributes and set it to a smaller size.

Did anyone happen to pick up a gray 3 ring at the muster by accident. I had some records in it that I really need and I haven't been able to find it since I got home.

What's it worth to ya?!!  Seriously, you left it in my pickup.  There were a couple of clipboards, too.

;D Well, let's see... a silver bar..a 3 ring binder. Hmmm...yep that should be about an even trade ;)

Thanks I was starting to think I must have lost my mind as well ast the binder. I'll pick it up some time when I'm in Ord.

I picked up the targets the other night but with the topper on my pickup it made it hard to pick up the stands or tables.
