I am looking for a Bisley that will go into the SA guns. Scare as hens teeth these days as they all got hoarded away years ago. But I do have cash and some unusual USFA trading stock like barrel and cylinder combos if that helps to pry them from your cold sweaty hands :)

I don't know if this would work but VTI sells a Bisley hammer for Pietta GWII and it says it also fits Colt 1st and 2nd Gen and rmi San Marco.

Thank you Sir. Much appreciated. Bisley hammer won't work in a SAA. Wish it would. I've made them before and have one hammer left already cut to make another. Prefer to buy or trade someone for their's though. I have some spare USFA factory hammers ;D So you won't be going with out!

Hi Dave, Not wanting to sell it, as I is good trading stock for the elusive Bisley. But if you have a polished one I'd likely be willing to trade you plus some cash.

Yahoody, you said a "Bisley hammer won't work in an SAA".
Just to be sure we are on the same page, the hammer I linked to is not a Bisley hammer. It is an SAA replica hammer with a Bisley spur attached. Made originally for the Pietta GWII, which is a copy of the SAA. According to the description it will work in Colt 1st and 2nd Gen SAA's. Thus, if a Colt 1st or 2nd Gen SAA hammer will work in a USFA then this Pietta hammer should also work in a USFA. It's Item 2 but there are several Item 2's. It's the one that says PAGWPE22BICH.

Thank you Sir. Much appreciated! I had not noticed that particular hammer. USFA and Long Hunter did a similar hammer profile as their version of a "turned down" race hammer. The Pietta hammer you have linked might well work in a USFA gun though.
I've made a couple of hammers by using a cut off Bisley hammer spur ( think the donor was a Ruger or Uberti hammer, can't remember) and a cut down USFA hammer, then welding the spur on.

I suspect you have seen them before. But here is the more traditional Bisley hammer spur that USFA made prior that I was looking for. Why? They allow you to see the sights after the hammer has dropped (which helps follow through) and they are easy to cock shooting one handed at paper. It makes a good hammer for a dedicated target gun.

I can see the benefit of being able to see the sights with the hammer down. That was actually a feature that Remington added to their New Model Army .44 percussion in 1863. I think it was 1863, or it could have been 1861.
