Afternoon all.

Sunny and 85 as of 11:45.  Headed for 100.  Got 102 yesterday.  I'm thinking a trip to the higher elevations might be in order.

My garden is being assaulted by pincher bugs and crickets, and I am frustrated.  I've tried flour dusting, soapy water, isopropyl alcohol, and just applied some diatomaceous earth.  We'll see how it goes.

Now I've got a few errands to run.  Get the mail, some chicken food and veggies for dinner.  Then I'm going to take the dog out.

We use dishwashing liquid, spritz’d on the plants. So did my granny. But you have to reapply after rain and heavy morning dew. Oh the joys of gardening. ;)

Put in Tomatoes a few years... looked forward to fresh vine ripe 'maters....

Then the bugs moved in  >:(   tried varies dusts & concoctions , Fellow I met swore by Palmolive dish washing soap & Listerine  :-\

I had the cleanest, best breath worms in the county.... but no dam tomatoes ....
Now I take my black thumb to do my garden harvest at the produce stand.   :-*

The first summer that I tried cherry tomatoes on my deck they got a little out of hand.

On the Flora subject or more correctly "fauna" we had some excitement this afternoon.
My wife found  Butterfly Areca Palms on sale at Home Depot and decided to buy one.
Its about a 2 gal. pot and came with green plastic netting that kept it sorta gathered in.
"She" placed it out by the pool it till it was decided (her decision )  where she'd plant it....

This afternoon was to be the un-potting, however the resident "fauna" in the form of 3' black snake had other plans as he was trapped by the plastic netting.
I'm pretty sure " the Shriek " was heard two counties away, certainly back a the Home Depot in town !

I was not much comfort...as I name it "Bubba Wallace"    why you ask ? ....  He's a black racer , of course.  ;D

"SHE" was not amused, and called animal control ( we have a friend that runs the County shelter and she happens to collect pet snakes  ::) )
However, before Amber could arrive... Bubba extricated himself or herself (Babette ?  :-\) from the enclosed netted palm.
"SHE" is quite sure Bubba or Babette is hanging around in the Holly hedge, to spring forth.

"SHE" will NOT go outside,  well as yet anyway.  :P   And when  "SHE"  does .... I fear for the snake !

You mean she did not return Bubba back to Home Depot?

Afternoon all.

Today has become "useless blob" day for me.  I took the dog out for a 'walk' yesterday, intending to just go down the trail a ways, toss a stick in the creek a few times and come home.  I ended up at the top of the mountain outside town.  For perspective, I parked at 2800 feet, and crested the mountain at 7000, six miles away.  I convinced my mommy to come give me a ride when I got to the nearest road. ::)

Also, I now have more than just bugs in my garden.  Now I have rabbits.  A jackrabbit pulled my screening off and ate a pumpkin and some beans.  Dog scared him off, but the damage was done.

Actually, today is voting day, so I need to go do that.

Got 3 good antique rockers in the house and a nice saloon chair.  Dining room chair set is modern ones maybe 40 years old and an extra different one to collect junk in the bedroom. ::)

3 old China cupboards besides the built in 2.  The one Rita has allowed me to use for my Labrador Nick nacks.

The Capt. (what we called it ) was bought at yard sale 35-40 years ago by my late Mother.
It has some age on it then, but not antique...

It has GPT  and  MH-HG  ???  stenciled in block letters on bottom of the seat , turned spindles & legs but not overly ornate and no hand hole in the back board , sculptured butt print in the seat ...
My guess, 1970's era beech wood maybe $35 chair new  :-\  prolly paid $5 at the yard sale  :-\

I use it as my den office/ computer seat ....Its stout, but creaks and is loose at most the glued spindle holes the slanted fitment keeps it together.

I suppose I should  restore it...and give it another lease on useful service.

The only Antique chair I have is a about 120 years old , Wicker seat spindle fan back Victorian....
its been around as long as I remember, it was in my folks house.

I am sure if one wanted to know the GBT and MH -HG could be found, and the history would be known. Then of course you could take it the PBS roadshow event and have them tell you.

Got one old chair a desk type, cleaned it up when i bought it, put a new leather seat in it. I bought it at a auction barn in Stuarts Draft Va., 20 years ago. Auctioneer couldn’t get a bid on it, i offered like $4. And got it.

Picked another handfull of Blueberries last evening.

Thank you Slim for the coffee

Roo  it is GPT and you sorta inspired me to call ...

I'll be dogged, I just called an antique store I know in town ...we have bunch of them, St. Cloud is kinda a mecca  of the places.
This guy specializes in striping and restoring wood furniture.

He said those marks were Fancher Chair Falconer, NY  it been around since 1808 and still in business  :o

He said that chair was kinda common and they still make a similar chair today , called the CLUB
He said I was SPOT ON , dating it to around 1972
