I've shot both the 1879 and 1883 models with .44 Russian BP loads. I have never had issue with the triggerguard and I have large hands.

Congrats on the German pistol.  I have my 1873 St Etienne's working pretty good now with 44 Russian rounds.

Since the St Etienne 1873's were only made in single/double action combo they can not be used at major SASS matches.

There are two local clubs who allow me to use them at local matches and I shoot them single action only in Frontier Cartridge.

I find them very comfortable to shoot.

It's here!  It's big, beefy and definitely of substance.  I really do believe it could make a nice club.  I could see me shooting it at NCOWS and GAF Matches.

Unfortunately they are not mine. I saved some images off the net with the idea of trying to make myself a more-or-less correct holster.

I did see an antique holster for the german Post Office I think, just a bog-standard full flap thing.

So am I going to have to make sauerbraten and pumpernickel for one of the meals next year?

If there's a lot of cabbage in any of that, we may want to sleep outside the tents and pray for a good breeze!

I always liked those Brats they served on a hard roll, with real mustard(can't stand American hot dog mustard). They were kind of like a Polish Sausage, but spices were different.
Also liked Jeagerschitzel and spatzle, only difference between making spatzle and the noodles you put in beef are the size and shape they are cut, I think. But that's more of a restaurant food than an every day food there.

That would be a lot of ham hocks, may just have to do a German meal this year though.

This hijack is much too serious! It has degenerated from a casual chat about toyz down to the bottom line; - FOOD! ;)

Is it time to repost to Del's page?

No, I think we're still good. The German food is just another accessory to the German revolver. Every time Lebels are mentioned, Del starts talking about snails. Maybe I need to get a Bodeo, then we can talk Italian food. However, if someone shows up with a Nambu, I'm not interested in Sushi!

WaPruf2;  Thanks for joining in. As you probably have noticed there is interest in German arms and equipment on this board. Someone with your obvious level of knowledge will fit right in.

I have an M88/14. If I had the opportunity to compete in GAF, I would portray a member of the Scandinavian Korps in the Anglo/Boer War as the M88 was issued to them. The Captain had been a Swedish Officer and I don't know if he kept his Nagant service revolver. I've got it covered as I have both a Reichsrevolver and a Russian Nagant (An approved substitute for a Swedish Nagant?)

http://www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/boer-units/1955-scandinavian-corps

No data on the Korps; not my area of interest. If you have a true 88/14 and not an 88/05 you have a real treasure.

There's what appears to be a decent repro M83 holster on Ebay.
