Choosing your powder and bullet weight correctly
« on: June 19, 2019, 07:01:28 AM »
If you choose your powder with recoil in mind you can get PF+ in Cowboy and WB. For instance with minimum recommended loads 700x will be a much sharper recoil than Titegroup which will have a noticeably sharper recoil than Clays or WST. Generally speaking if you load a 200g bullet for WB it will have a less comfortable recoil than a 230g bullet with the same PF. It's not rocket science but looking at a loadbook for loads and powder characteristics will get you a long ways down the road to a comfortable, shootable load.

Nah   :D   Actually much simpler than that.  Much simplerer  ::)   Just reduce your charge of 3f and add a little Breakfast Food for filler   ;D   Also a simple reduction can be had by just changing to 2f.  If still experiencing recoil excessive to your tender hooks  ::)  Substitute a lighter bullet.  Like I do.    ;D

The "Barnstormer" 130Gr Hollow Base bullet is simply PERFECT for a light recoiling pistol round.

Doesn't sound like much of a load for a 1911, what do ya use for a recoil spring, 6 lb?
