Yeah, mine has no offending marks on the normally-visible surfaces of the barrel. Just a proof mark on the right side, and "LONDON" on the top. The "Black powder only...etc" mark is only on the underside of the barrel.
I haven't even taken mine apart yet! Which is very unusual for me! I've been fondling it all afternoon!
I'll check the base pin/barrel fit here shortly. At least that is easily enough remedied with some washers of suitable thickness (just remember they're there and don't let them fall out when you take the gun apart!).
A few years ago, I ordered an 1860 "civilian" model from Cimmaron. I don't remember what all was wrong with it, but it just was not right at all. The loading rod was spaced out too far from the barrel, I remember, and something else too. I had to send it back, and the guy there agreed it just wasn't right, but they didn't have another one to send me. This Uberti is much nicer indeed. I'm pretty impressed with it so far.
